This guy is in DM East.
The last boss in Dire Maul: East.
Transform - He transforms into different things such as a Treant or a Wolf through out the fight.
Ennervate - A poison debuff that drain 200 mana per second for 10 seconds.
Imps - About halfway through the fight, the wall behind him will crumble down, and about 10 imps will run towards him. Imps continue to come randomly untill he is dead.
A pretty simple fight, he does not hit that hard. When the imps come, have someone AoE them down, and kill him fast before more imps come. Paladins and Druids should remove the Ennervate poison as quickly as possible, since he seems to always cast it on the healers first.
Advice to any 70s looking to solo him:
Clear the plants that are in his room before you engage him. If you don't, they will aggro when he reaches ~40%.
Note: You need to kill Zevrim Thornhoof (
) and then talk to Old Ironbark (
) before you can gain access to this boss.
Easily soloable as a 70 feral druid. You could probably do the first 60% in cat form, popping out to heal before he hit 40% and then switching to bear for the imps. The imps each did 6-8 damage each without Demo Roar and by the time I remembered to Roar I had swiped most of them to death. If you're doing the Felvine quest, it drops off of the vine behind him after he dies and it shatters into small red bits. Use the bits to get a shard and then use the quest item to complete the quest.
Easily solo'd as a 70 BM hunter. Just stuck my pet on him the entire fight, and shot away at him. When the Imps spawned, I layed down an Explosive Trap, and by the time Alzzin himself was dead the Imps had also been killed by the trap.
As stated before, clear All the plants in the room before engaging him, including the big tree guys.
Me and my friends higher level were doing this guy for gloves, and our class books (druid+priest). We are pre-tbc players, on Auchindoun EU <Reflection>. The first post over two years ago says his abilities, so I won't bother with that. Just some miscellancious things.
1) There's a change that a red tome spawns next to him. 20% chance that any of the class books drops from it. I got my Emerald Dream from it.
2) If you're also farming for class books, I recommend going this way -> Hydrospawn (because he has a chance of dropping it) -> Hoof (the floor above - must kill him to reach Alzzin) Alzzin. Rince and repeat.
The easiest way is to turn right at beginning (if you have stealth), walk along the edge until you can't (a broken white pillar). Look down and wait for the patrol (three Irontrees) to walk by, then jump down. Wait for stealth. Re-stealth. Continue down along the middleroad, past Ironbark, and enter the room. Beware, stealthseeing mobs!
Straight ahead to the right should be Hydrospawns pool. He spawns two Hydrolings in the middle of the fight, but they're all easy. He can hit quite hard, though. When he's killed, continue forward, and go right once again. Straight ahead should be the path up to the satyr. I recommend that only on person attack and kill him. Otherwise he might activate a ritual with is lethal.
After he's dead, jump down into Hydrospawns pool and walk out the way you came. Talk to Ironbark, he rampages and breaks open the door. Go through, keep going down in the "arena". Clear before Alzzin, because the plants otherwise will aggro! When you do finally attack him, he will (as previously written) spawn a ton of imps at 40%. They're easy, though, and nothing to worry about.
3) However, I have a tip about them. You can keep concentrating on the boss if, for example, your healer takes aggro of the imps and jumps up and down from a rock onto the ledge running around the "room". The rock I am talking about is - if you're looking at Alzzin before engaging him - to his right, just behind a pillar. The imps will have to run back quite a while to get up and try to attack the healer, then he just jumps down.
Very effective. Good luck, and the Regenration gloves are MUCH lower droprate than it says. Now I must say goodbye, 'cus MT is pulling Emeriss!
4) (edit:) Hm. If you only have one stealther, the non-stealther can stay at start until the stealher has finished the two bosses and activated Ironbarks rampage. Then you jump down from the ledge, to the front of a huge pillar (look from entrance out towards the instance, directly to the left is where you should jump down), and then just run into the door. Beware of a patrol, though.
just killed him last night, the battle isn't anything too out of the norm, he does shapeshift alot though. Main things to watch out for is when he becomes a wolve, he will do a DoT to someone that is pretty nastey, and near the end he spawns about 5-10 or so imps leveling from 54-58 non-elite, only thing that really caught my group off gaurd
this boss is at the end of the East wing
I get a group that can kill this sucker over and over, and not surprisingly, he drops EVERYTHING listed besides the books of the classes who are present :p.
From the broken commons (arena area), take the right door. Off to the left, there's a ledge you can jump down (shield or take precautions against falling damage). The door to the Wildhshaper's area is right ahead of you on the left wall, but you can't go through there yet.
Work your way along the wall to the other side of the garden (there's a stealthed satyr to watch out for). You'll see a big ent hanging around on the walkway that you can talk to. You'll be coming back to him in a bit.
Go through the hall, up the ramp, and work you way to Zevrim Thornhoof. He's a little nasty to fight, as he'll chain someone to the altar and suck hp. Having someone who can dispel his dots and someone else to heal is good.
Go talk to the ent in the courtyard (someone can stealth over and unstealth under him, and none of the patrols will bother you). He'll go knock open the door.
Hop up on the bannister and walk down to avoid fighting things you don't care about. Clear the imps out and then take on the Wildshaper himself. He's got a nasty little disease, so watch for that, and keep an eye for the swarms of imps he'll call in.
There's a book in the back corner that may drop something nice, and several sweet thorium veins on the back passage out.
Im 60 pally...if i could solo this i would...really nice +healing bonuses on most of his stuff :D
Yeh dude...lifestone is basically useless to pally if warrior can use it :) we can heal ourselves without fancy trinkets...shows how uber we are :P
Could a druid and a rogue solo him, Me, (druid) and a Rogue soloed Lethtendris without too much trouble.
havent ran the instance yet...but i hear the energized cp is ownage for paladins...much better than LF chest which....in my experience....never drops from UBRS
dropped my quel'book today xDDDDD
me(priest) and my friend who is a rogue did whole DM east by our selves.
The best combination
Of course one is an Enchanter
Easy shard farming
Is he in Dm east? Hes got some nice drops for me!
You can solo DM east with the same technique used to solo DM north. Did this guy a couple days ago.
well, ive been soloing DM east for shards for about a month, and as of the last patch 1.12 he has a new instacast thats pretty painful. wither, it does ~800 nature damage and a 20second DoT that does ~150dmg every 3 sec.
60 lock Dunemal
See At The Top Of The Drops,
The Epic Book For Warriors, And Paladins

3.5kg to 4kg
, on Perenolde..... now trying to be friendly with him so he gives me some gold =)
Does this guy still exist? Thott has only 3 kills for him.
soloed as 70l lock with green otland craps ... build 30/31/0
Soloed as a lvl 68 feral druid in greens.
Used a nice little terrain pathing bug.
Unable to take him down Solo(without using some kind of terrian exploit)
70 destro lock
soloed as feral druid, very close but succeeded. Used +2000 armor potion.
soloable until the 30 imps at 30%. Bring a bomb or three.
soloed, 68 demo lock
Easy Demonology lock kill. However, if you f*ck up and die, and still have ss up, do not raise there. The demons will go back to him, and aggro when you're even remotely close, and keep spam respawning on you after you kill them. I have a SS of about 200+ demons dead around me. Literal repop time of 20-30 seconds. Just hang it up if you die - it's over, reset the instance.
On to killing him:
Make sure you have improved Voidy, stand behind him, do very light damage until 50%, keep voidy full of MP/HP. You want as little hate as possible for the next stage.
As soon as the demons come out, wait for them to surround you then hit suffering. Now at this point you have two options:
A) Proceed to blast the loving hell out of Alzzin at this point, keeping him dotted, and hope you don't get killed in the process.
B) If you have the -hate trinket from Hellfire Peninsula, run back, pop it, and start AOE'ing, when the demons turn to run at you, smack hellfire and finish them off.
I haven't tried a thornling seed yet to see if they'll misdirect the demons for a few seconds, but I do know engineering and jewelcraft owns there. Either bust out bombs or a -damage trinket and you'll be full of win. Demons hit for about 10-20 damage and there's roughly 20 of them that come out.
It's an easy mob, the 20+ imps just make it really, really, really aggrevating. Solo/Group Quest geared 68 Lock btw.
OK! Found a trick if you have the firepower for it. Pull out imp, Fire Shield yourself, then immediately pull out VW/FG. Sic your pet on him, dot light for the first minute. 2nd minute full dot him and throw nukes until you take hate then Soulshatter. At this point ensure that your pet is at full HP (or near) and has MP.
Put immolate up before the imps get to you. Now tag him with dots as and when needed, the imps will kill themselves on you because of the fire shield.
had to pop an elemental to kill this guy at 70 in lvl 70 blues as elemental spec
he attacks so fast ur LBs will take like 5-7s to cast
Like f*ck did any of you level 60 mages/locks solo this instance. Bullsh*t. I can understand being able to solo the first section of the instance, maybe upto the elemental boss, because I did that for the Doomguard lock quest when I was 60. But at 60, that was only possible on the 3-Satyr Pulls, and you had to pray that banish and enslave actually worked, else you were dead... which left the 3rd one as a straightforward kill, but the other 2 HAD to be CC'ed... What about the 4-satyr groups? So you're saying you 60 locks/mages managed to kill the second free add? Mages managed to kill 4 satyrs? (seeing as sheep doesnt work on demons).. no chance.
And the final boss would easily kill any 60 lock/mage, purely for the imps, which are a pain unless you do seed of corruption, because 10 of them WILL interrupt your casting to the point its useless, so if you let them get too close, they will kill you. And this is coming from an all Merciless Gladiator geared Lock with 13k HP / Soul Link / 1k Shadow Damage etc. Boss himself is quite easy, but you do have to watch out for the imps and take care of them, when they come. But then the last boss would kill you level 60s trying to solo it anyway.
aaah, i miss the ol' good days...i remember i used to 2man this boss and all the other DM east bosses with a druid friend of mine , it was fun like hell...had some problems on the elemental guy thou, coz of the debuff....Alzzin himself was abit of a pain, especially when the imps spawnd, but the grps to get to him was alot harder, but when it comes to 2manning this boss, its nothin near the other Satyr...whts his name? cant remember but he does Sacrifice and was a %^&*! to kill ill tell u tht,we always enjoyed ourselves at the "Mage/warlock" boss who had the imp add, she was a pain idd, best part was when we went to DM north and West and tried the bosses there, only killed the first 2 bosses in there thou...was rly #$%^&y and took us some time to do it...but damn....good ol' days...i miss them..
Is this guy really nonelite now?
Very nice tip on using your imp for the fire shield. I underestimated the number of imps that would come out and had it not been for the shield even though I would've dropped the boss I would've died and been very pissed off. Even with the shield it came down to the wire as the buff expired and I still had about 10-15 imps to go through. I highly suggest getting at least one SOC off or you'll probably regret it. My void's suffering did nothing. Fun fight though, worth the 3 blues he dropped.
Also, there were two rich thorium veins in the tunnel out.
Can some one link me a map please :) ?
Has his loot table changed? I have killed him over 30 times and he's only dropped the "Gloves of Restoration" once(Priest rolled a 100 on then, LMAO/CRY).
Which side of Dire Maul is he located?
strat to beat him, pull roamer, avoid all other giants by getting on the ramp, where the vine with the spikes touches the floor.
pull left plant, pull first right, then last plant.
he does a 200 a second mana drain for 5 sec on casters, changes shape, wolf is MEGA dps, tree is near immune to damage, resists alot of my spells (60 shaman) he hits around 800 (mail) normally.
and at around 20% around 10-15 mini-demons come in and rush you. if someone gets killed by them, its then +5-10 more ....
i can main heal this fine by myself, but can't tank it.
p.s. warlocks are great in this instance.
He really does hate me. No matter how many times I kill him he never drops the Whipvine Cord.
Anybody need a spare pair of Merciful Greaves? I've got 5.
Which side is this mob in?
He's fairly easy. Just have your warrior/paladin tank him like a regular mob, and get rid of the mana drain effect (which doesn't effect much anyway, since the battle doesn't require much mana for healing).
Dudes, which side is this guy on? North / west?
Just dropped Foror :D
i cant find him :/
could someone give me a map or something?
the last time i searched for him but.....i didnt find him :/
pls someone GIVE ME A MAP OF DM pls :]
We did it for the first time, in a group of 4. Mage, Warlock, Priest and Hunter.
Didn't have proper tank, but my pet was fine. Did all DM East before we did this.
We didn't know the boss, so got a little surprised at the encounter, but that is all fine.
When we got him down to the 20%, the imps came and he yelled something about being too close to the ramp, not wanting to follow us. So he ran back.
Now... does he always run back, when he is at 20%? Because it might be bugged, when we took care of the first wave, another one came. And another. And...
They kept spawning, though we didn't lose more than a few of the group. They kep coming, still.
So decided to try and pull him to get him overwith, as that might stop them. But it didnt. Still, every 10 sec or so, 5-15 came at us. Over and over...
Turned in the other three for credit. Couldn't find turn in for this guy. How do I get back for the turn in (hopefully without doing it again)?
