Thunderclap – AoE deals 800-1000 nature damage, leaves behind a Magic debuff Attack speed and Movement speed reduced by 35%.
Blast Wave/Burning Maul – When O’mrogg’s maul begins burning he deals about 1000 fire damage in melee and sets up to cast his Blast Wave which deals 2500-3000, he will do a second Blast Wave a few seconds later.
AoE Fear – Magic, does a shout and fears all in earshot.
Warbringer O’mrogg’s room is big and it is big for a reason, to give us room to spread out and try to avoid his Fear and Blast Waves. We want him tanked near the center of his room, O’mrogg’s Thunderclap debuff should be removed often from our tank. As for his AoE fear, looks to have about 40 yard range so it can be avoided by some classes. O’mrogg’s big nasty is his Blast Wave he will cast back to back for almost 6000 damage total, we can anticipate his Blast Wave when his maul begins to burn and he melees for fire damage. At that point non tank melee has a few second window to get away from him in order to avoid the first Blast Wave, a few seconds after his first he will cast a second.
He is not a difficult encounter, as long as we keep our tank’s health happy through the Blast Waves.
He seems to have an aggro wipe now with his yells about every 30 seconds or so.
It appears that once the tank is being hit, if you keep heavy DPS going the boss will not change targets.
Basically he resets aggro after every fear or yell, so heal whoever he is on. He's virtually untankable. If you just keep HUGE dps on him the entire time, you will win phat lootz.
This boss is very tankable, the trick is this...you need 2 people able to tank, 1st tank goes in as normal to start the fight, everyone in the group pretty much does there normal job except for the 2nd person to tank...that person does absolutly nothing, sit down and when he yells his aggro list flips and he will go for the person lowest on the aggro list ( the sitting 2nd tank ), 2nd tank does his normal job and 1st tank keeps attacking, then he will flip back and forth between the 2 tanks depending on which head is in control
O'mrogg is kinda like Broodlord Lashlayer in the fact that an unlucky string of crits with flamebrand and blast wave can destroy your tank.
There's always a slight respite to get your tank back up to full health when O'mrogg's other head goes after a random person, though, so be sure to take that opportunity. Just hope he doesn't flamebrand/blastwave the poor sap he goes after in the mean time.
Ended up being stuck in flamebrand "mode" after a mage invis'd instead of dying on a wipe.
Needless to say, almost impossible on heroic when he was stuck like this.
one of the easiest lvl 70 non-heroic bosses ( as well as everything in SV ) .. on heroic probably not, but then again everything in lvl 70 heroic dungeons is hard and can 1-shot u
We tried to kill this boss in Heroic mode, and found it to be pretty much impossible. Nothing's impossible ofcourse but this one is really tough :/
He has the exact same abilities as normal mode but hits much harder ofcourse.
As soon as he switches aggro his new target is almost certainly dead. We tried to use Blessing of Protection and also tried Limited Invulnerability potions. It helps, it gives your tank those few extra seconds to get aggro back (which is difficult because he's immune to taunt) but it has a 2 minute cooldown.
One try we got him to 20% and then our healers went oom.
We killed him in Heroic after 5 attempts.
Although after the first try O'mrogg was stuck in enrage, we did not give up and used a lot of invu potions, Iceblocks, shieldwalls, etc.
Feral Druid as MT
Protection Warrior as Offtank
My hint would be to take along an holy paladin, since he can shield himself, shield others and as far as i remeber i have seen a paladin succesfully taunt him! Maybe add some battlerez druid, icemage for iceblocks and loads of invu potions. And most importantly: kill him on the first attempt, so he doesnt get stuck on enrage mode!
Keep trying, just hope youll be lucky the next try.
boss is easier if the tank is also DPSing
WE FUCKING KILLED HIM ON ENRAGE MODE, this feels like first nefarian kill.
serious im shaking.
This bitch was a though one.
It should be noted that he's immune to taunt.
I was analyzing his yells for an addon. Do both heads change the aggro list or just left one? The text would indicate just the left, but I haven't had a chance to check.
* Me hungry.
* We kill someone else!
* You stay here. Me go kill someone else!
* Me not like this one...
* Me hungry.
* This one die easy!
* We kill his friend!
* Ha ha ha.
* Me get bored.
* You're always hungry. That's why we so fat!
* That's not funny!
* That's because I do all the hard work!
* Hey, you numbskull!
* Bored? He was almost dead!
* I'm not done yet, idiot!
* I'm tired. You kill next one!
* What are you doing?
* Why don't you let me do the talking?
This is an annoying boss fight on normal mode (though the argument between the heads is rather hilarious), and I imagine quite lethal on heroic mode. I wonder if it's worth testing wether he does a full aggro wipe when he 'switches' or not, I could see that making a big difference on heroic mode (because this guy already hits hard. I can imagine him insta-gibbing cloth in heroic)
Killed him on heroic - mage iceblocked, bear tank was quick, invuln pots were needed. Has very low hp tho, zerging him went fine.
The way the boss works is that each head has its own aggro table. Therefore your warrior must build aggro on both heads. So once the warrior establishes aggro on head #1, he has to build up rage until the boss swaps to the second head. After warrior gets aggro he continues to build aggro until the head swaps back to the first one and then dps goes in.
Worked perfectly with Brongon's strat.
He can be disarmed. Use this to your advantage when he casts his weapon buff and/or when he's beating on someone other than the MT.
I feigned death (not resisted) when his second head went for me. This didn't get him off. His secondary targets are not aggro-based. They're probably random.
If you're not the tank and he goes after you, you're just going to have to do whatever you can to avoid the damage until the other head takes over.
This was a very easy fight for my group on non heroic we pretty much just tanked and spanked our healer was a pally so he shielded who ever got the aggro and that gave the tank enough time to pick up the lost aggro
Did this earlier today and found that when he switches heads, its best to simply stop all DPS and let the tank bash him for awhile until he has aggro again. Once the tank has aggro established, you can pretty much let loose until he switches targets again, at which point you just do the same thing. This worked perfectly for my group, we had no deaths, and I didn't even have to use Blessing of Protection. I can't say how well this will work with a warrior, although I imagine stacking Sunder Armor and letting loose with Devastation after he changes targets will have much the same effect as paladin tactics.
Group composition was as follows:
Paladin tank (myself)
If you dont feel like dealin with this guy you can by pass him. Tried it tonight and it worked just bypassing him.
is O'mrogg immune to Mocking Blow ?? it is a warrior skill that's used
in battle stance.
isn't dropped in heroic mode, pls fix it...
We had him lock aggro on the healing priest with my BoP on cooldown, run up, hit and then critting for 8.1K. Fun with an instant unpreventable wipe.
As a T4/5 paladin tank:
I've found a method that generally works well and i never seem to lose aggro.
I run in, body pull, judge Righteousness and Consecrate, Seal righteousness. When judgement cooldown is up, i switch to SotC, judge Crusader, Seal Vengeance (as alliance- horde have to stay with Righteousness).
DPS up to this point are holding back a little, (if possible have a hunter misdirect) and they can be going at a bit higher rate.
However once i get up to 3 stack of Vengeance, they go all-out: by the time he switches aggro I have a 5-stack of Vengeance.
When he switches aggro (or just before, if you think you can guess when its coming), pop Wings, throw shield, Judge Vengeance, Seal Vengeance, Consecrate.
And you should have aggro for the rest of the fight!
NOTE: He does NOT drop the Tear of the Earthmother on heroic mode.
Hes nothing special, he has a fire blast that can hurt, and he aoe fears every so often, he'll reset aggro and run off after the next highest on the aggro list, but he'll go back to the original after a few seconds. hes a pretty easy fight, watch his dialogue, corny, but funny
I love this boss, he is so entertaining
Its so lame. I've been 19 times in Shattered Halls and none of them, have my shoulderguards dropped. Always when I do rerun to get rep and look after shoulders it just won't drop. Shattered sucks!
very funny boss :P
it's a shame you have to kill him
It seems attacks the 2nd highest on the aggro list if he has his aggro reset, but never someone twice. so even if I try to be as low as possible on aggro, eventually I will get attacked and have no way to survive this.
I have died on this boss on all of my 6 SH runs ..
with good groups and good healers too.
how come it doesnt say that runesong dagger drop on non heroic
4-manned him today, because our tank-adin, (who did a GREAT job before and really convinced me of this subclass) went offline and didn't come back.
Since this boss has some kind of random aggro, we decided to try without a tank. We were:
Shaman Healer (me)
Just threw in Bloodlust and we DPSed him down fast, nobody died. I gave his target the earth shield, used my instant heal after the shock-wave, that's it, no big deal.
Shattered Halls is a strange place, the bosses are easy compared to some mob groups.
I tried him for the first time last night as a 69 arms warrior.
HE IS IMMUNE TO TAUNT.
So if you have a hard time holing aggro anyway because of your spec, it is especially hard on him. My sunders did essentially nothing, and revenge is almost useless if you can't get him to him you. After our two mages died I was able to hold him... but with most of our dps is gone, we only got him down to 30%. Only tried him once because I knew I'd never be able to hold him. Any advice? Besides being/bringing a prot warrior or tankadin?
70 holy pally healing
easiest boss ive ever fought
hits like a baby.
after barely surviving fighting a 10 mob pull early in the instance, i almost cried when this guy was no trouble at all.
i wish you could fight him without going through the several ridiculous pulls in shattered halls.
Hmm, just telling you that this is pretty hard healing this boss in heroic, when u have 3 clothies in ur party (me = pala, warrior, spriest, warlock and mage)
Being a decently geared protection warrior, even I had trouble holding his aggro until our hunter died. Make sure to inform your group that he's immune to taunt.
killed him many times all items droped at least 3-10 times but no dagger..
Just did him in heroic, he didn't seem to just change aggro like some people have said, I was way below the tank on threat and I was just drain lifing. Aggro only went back to the druid tank after he feared me.
It's not too difficult though, just do everything you can to stay alive, he crit me for 8.5k and I still managed to stay alive by being subject to a lucky crit heal and using death coil.
2 manned him once on normal me and the tank were the only ones left standing at 80% because he ran away and oneshotted the dps with a fire pulse then a melee and we stood there fighting him for about 6 minutes i bubbled my self when ever he charged me which was long enough for forebearance to come down and we killed him super slow not a particularly challenging boss but if you are squishy beware 2nd aggro positon
Yesterday night we killed him.
Group setup: lvl 70 resto druid, lvl 70 feral druid, lvl 70 ice mage, lvl 69 ice mage, level 70 defensive warrior
Tank went in using Last Stand+trinket to boost his own HP than using shield wall and healing pot to provide 30-35 second time to himself and to group to build aggro - healer was absolutely doing nothing. When tank lost aggro boss turned to feral druid (off-tanking in bear form) than was ping-ponging between the 2 mage. they used ice block / invisibility to drop aggro. from about 50% of his health, boss was attacing warrior and feral druid in turns (he never ever turned to healer druid but Intervene was at hand in case of emergency). We lost one mage who was combat ressed during the fight by one of the druids.
Pls note, that above group setup was very good during the whole instance - 2 tanks and 2 sheeps helped a lot to pass big incoming groups.
This is, by far, the most difficult encounter my guild has ever faced (not a raiding guild.) We wiped well over 10 times on this guy (I think the total wipes were close to 15). Our party: 69 prot warr (me), 68 holy priest, 70 frost mage, 70 destro warlock, 70 marksman hunter. Let me just give a few pointers as to things we did right (but mostly wrong):
1) Failed Strategies. As we read in other posts, this boss has two threat lists and after a few changes, it gets near impossible to remember where who is on what list. He is also immune to taunts, but NOT threat increasing abilities. Here is what didn't work:
- Tank gets aggro, burn boss down, everyone stops when tank loses aggro, tank tries to regain aggro. The tank ALWAYS failed to regain threat before the boss's target got killed. Then he appeared to move to the next person on his list. Tank could never regain aggro.
- Kiting. Someone who downed him said that they kited him, so we decided to have the hunter distracting shot , throw on cheetah and run him around the room. I've never seen a boss that big move that fast. This is horrible idea. Or maybe poorly implemented. Either way ...
2) Successful Strategies
- Pets. After the first head change the warrior will ALWAYS lose aggro, then the boss proceeds to the first person on the next head's threat list (which, almost invariably, is the healer). We were able on a few occasions to have the hunter's/warlock's pets use torment/growl to pull the boss off because those abilites are not taunt, even though they are similar.
- Preemptive fades. Our healer started using fade after a couple heals to reduce threat on both heads' lists. It worked like a charm - he was normally 2nd to last to die (last to die was always the "tank".)
- Ping-pong. This is what got us closest to victory. After the tank got 5 sunders on the boss, we had everyone open up and go full dps. Once someone took aggro, they stopped dps-ing while the rest of the party kept on hammering. Our healer (WILL IS AWESOME) was normally able to heal through until he went to the next party member. We were able to get him into the low teen percentages and lower (6% - 14%) doing this before the wipe, so we just needed that one little thing to give us the edge.
- Limited Invulnerability Pots. These things are godly. We gave one to everyone but the tank. This was what allowed us to kill him. As soon as the player popped this, we switched targets. We lost 2 during the fight (warlock/hunter), but it allowed us to pull through.
3) Get rid of the stealthed guy. Somewhere along the top rim lurks a stealthed assassin. You can run around the full rim of the arena (even at level 68/69) without aggroing the boss. Seriously, find the assassin and kill him before the battle starts.
4) YOU CAN'T SKIP HIM. So we got tired of getting pwned by the ogre, so we decided to move onto Kargath (since, as stated, you could move around the rim w/o aggroing the ogre.) We were able to get to Kargath and start the engagement ... but when we had him at about 85%, here comes the ogre running down the hallway and pummels us into the ground. Don't do this.
Guess that's it. Good luck and have fun killing the ogre.
Group: (all 70) Prot Warrior, Fury Warrior, Shadow Priest, Fire Mage, Demonology Warlock
We tried using strategy and wiped twice. We decided to just burn him down as fast as possible and just heal whoever he went after. Worked like a charm.
first time inside with PUG
clean kill.. no deaths..
party was druid warlock mage rogue shaman
are we so lucky ? or is it not that hard....
To put it plainly. He has no real Threat table. At least doesn't have one for the retarded head and you will not get aggro back by trying to get the tank aggro.
DPS fast is the best strat here.
Attempted him yesterday with very well geared 70 Rogue and Mage, and well geared 70 Hunter and Warrior. I am a 68 Priest, but managed during the rest of the instance. From the tactics I have read from beta, it seems all he used to do was the fear and the blast-wave combo, making it a very easy fight.
Now, he does a random agro dump every so often, and decides to attack a seemingly random target. No debuff is placed, and it seems near impossible for the tank to get him back fast, even if he saves 70-80 rage to nuke agro after the boss swaps target. Was just wondering if anyone has any tactics?
If he went for me, I couldn't keep myself alive for 2k hit/3k crits for that long, and even when I stayed alive - if he aggroed the mage, I could nuke heal him right up to the fear, but then either my target was out of range, or my mana went dry healing the mage before our tank (who is a very decent tank) could regain agro. The mage would then die, dps would drop, and eventually either mana would run out or too much dps would die. One time we even started with the hunters pet tanking, the random agro went to the rogue who double-evasioned, then to the warrior, but despite very high dps, we just could not take him down before he would eventually agro me and thus wipe us. We used pots, all cooldowns, tested every tactic possible for who his agro moves to, but it seems random.
Plus, GG Blizzard for putting stealthed mobs on the side of the arena for a boss fight! Great getting feared into them...
my group actually downed all 3 bosses with a single wipe in shattered halls their arent that hard. in group we had:
1 warrior (def specced)
1 shaman (duel-wield specced)
1 warlock (demonology specced)
1 paladin (holy specced)
1 hunter (me) (beast mastery specced)
this guy aint that hard exept that he changes target ones a while. we downed him in like 2 mins of fighting and i dunno how much he hits for to cloth users. but he did hit our tank for 800-900 dmg not more and he dosent hit that fast.
and he keeps fighting with his left and right side of the heads sounds pretty stupid...
This fight is potentially the hardest encounter as it's not very predictable. my group, , managed to get him with only 2standing at the end. If it wasnt for the priest in plate we'd have no shot. He took a good bit of damage but spammed healed himself when he sorta had to tank.
And btw, the tank never did get aggro back. He just pingponged back and forth. So after the tank lost aggro for good around 70% he switched a sword into his offhand and DPSed. Completely random fight, if u get him down, GL!
Easy boss :)
rogue,warrior(prot),mage,lock,pala(69)....tank him..warriot will keep agro til 70% (if a good one)..after that its a nuke and run...with a good healer its easy..and with good dps
I dont understand whats all the big deal about this boss...and ppl wiping on it ?
Just tell ur healer to assist the boss and heal whoevers tanking it. Its another nuke fight, the more often the boss switches target, the easier it gets. Just have a priest who spam bubble and flash heals.
And you shouldnt get any assassins on that, just stay in the middle with the boss.
lawl, did this one yesterday on heroic... one tough son on an ogre. I imagine that he could be quite easy with only plate and mail or if you use invu pots.
However, we have proven (mainly for ourself) that he is doable even with an "odd" group:
Shaman (heal specced)
Druid (heal specced)
Mage (fire specced... no ice block. and he did quite a bit of tanking ;) )
Warrior (Def specced)
After some trys and reassurance from our guild that it was not possible with our setup and without any pots, we killed him.
He hits for 3 to 4k on cloth (very fast) and has more health then in normal other then that nothing special
-If you are a warlock, put ss on yourself, you WILL DIE (Soulshatter does not work).
-Mage can survive with mana shield.
-Shaman has no problem to heal himself or be healed
-our Druid died even in Bear form nearly instantly (but with heal gear)
We put the stone ele and Void out so that he can switch a few targets before the tank. I think the stone ele took two hits and the void one before dying. After that out tank was able to hold aggro even tho his heads wanted to change they keept hitting him at 60% or so he changed aggro and killed me with two hits, after combat rezz he started slapping around the mage who was kept alive by our healers, mana shield and blink. After our tank got back the aggro we killed him without any bigger problems.
I think it is also possible, if you have a Shaman or Paladin, that only the Tank and healer start the fight and you give them 30 second (you can stay out of combat as long as you don`t do dmg/healing and stay out of the thunder clap, so hopefully only the mail and plate guys will get hit.
ps. do not forget the assasine in the corner he WILL wipe you.
Im a 70 Prot War I have Never Wiped on this boss in any group of any makeup.
There is No Strats on this guy Dps goes Full burn tank looses agro at 70% but i can almost alawys regain it in the last 20% of his hp.
You can Hard-mode this guy by skipping him. When you get to him, just go left and start clearing the hall to Bladefist. Pull Bladefist and start by pumping everything from the start. After about 10 sec you will see O'mrogg start coming down the hall towards you. It's just glorious madness and so satisfying to pull off.
