He is some combat things about him.
-He is located furthest north from Thrallmar in a zone called Throne of Kil'jaeden
-He does an AoE Shadowbolt that does 2k flat damage. (Can use Shadow Protection, Same as the regular kazzak)
-He does a ????? Damage Thunderclap, don't really know the specs on this thing but I know it does a good amount of damage from what I could tell.
-He puts a Magic Debuff on his target that on every attack he does, he heals himself for 25,000(Dispellable by priests)
-If someone dies during the fight, he gets healed for 150,000 damage(Same as regular Kazzak but a bigger heal)
-He does around 5k-15k NON CRIT on Plate armor, so around 20k(one shot) Crit im guessing, we had a tank with Wrath Gear and some other varied BWL epics...so Im guessing we could use a better tank.
What I think is that he is REALLY hard for the type of gear the people have in beta atm, greens, blues, varied heroic/karazhan epics
At approximately 1 minute into the fight he enrages which does 30% more damage as well as hurls 6 volleys of shadow bolts that hit for 2500 if unresisted each. Consumables seem to be a must at the moment, although with raid buffed 98 shadow resist (mage armor ftw) I was resisting about half of each. It can be assumed that he will enrage at every subsequent minute.
The thunderclap hit me for 2300-2500
We took our flasked tank from killing High King Maulgar to go try him out and best attempt was ~65% w/out consumables before the flask wore off and called it for the night (only had 32).
My mob health had him clocked at around 1.2 million hp so with 40 people it'll take atleast 3 minutes to kill him, maybe less if you're pro.
He was hitting our tank for 5-8K regular hits and while enraged hit for 8-11K (tank in 7 dreadnaught, tier 5 shoulder). With consumables that probably could've been mitigated further (iron shield pot) but it was late.
It is my assumption that he will not be regularly 25 man-able until further along in gear progression, at the moment it would be best to take 40. Basically if anyone dies, it's pretty hard to compensate for the 150K heal.
One thing that hasn't been said about him is that he sometimes puts a 'Mark of Kazzak' on a person, which is undispellable. Mark of Kazzak reduces mana by 5% each second for 10 seconds. If that person goes out of mana he will blow up, dealing damage to everyone around him (and pretty much wiping the raid).
The key to this is make sure everyone has got more than 50% mana. If they don't, let them use a mana potion or have them receive an innervate.
I wasn't able to find an exact timer for the Mark of Kazzak, but on our last kill we saw 3 people get it.
Similar to the original Kazzak/Highlord Kruul, but more intense. You could kill them in 3 minutes, Doom Lord Kazzak really needs to be done in one.
Decent guide here
Originally known just as Lord Kazzak, Doom Lord Kazzak is a level ?? (boss) elite demon located at the Throne of Kil'jaeden, a mountain on the northern edge of Hellfire Peninsula in Outland. Originally located in the Tainted Scar in the Blasted Lands, Kazzak found an artifact to reopen the Dark Portal and travelled through it to Outland, where he now commands the Legion war effort in Outland in the name of his master, Kil'jaeden. Lord Kazzak's replacement on Azeroth after the re-opening of the Dark Portal is Highlord Kruul, one of Kazzak's minions.
He hits decently geared tanks for 7000-11000, and anyone else doesn't really stand a chance.
Doom Lord Kazzak's are the same as those when he resided in Azeroth, just with higher damage.
* Shadowbolt Volley
o Shoots out an insanely long range volley of Shadowbolts that hits everyone in the raid. It will hit between 1500-2800 to everyone before resistance is applied. The volley totally ignores all line of sight issues; It does have a range, and can be avoided.
* Twisted Reflection
o Casts a magical debuff (on a random player in range other than the player with aggro) that heals Lord Kazzak for a very large proportion of his health (was 25,000 pre-Burning Crusade) each time he deals damage to the player with this debuff. This combined with the Shadowbolt Volley can ruin the attempt.
* Mark of Kazzak
o Casts a non-curable debuff (on a random player in range with mana) that drains the target's mana for 5% per second and explodes for 5,000 (pre-Burning Crusade) AoE damage when there is no more mana to drain. A living bomb. Lasts 8 seconds.
o Doom Lord Kazzak's Cleave can be avoided if the melee stand behind him. The range of the Cleave seems to be greater than the typical 5yd melee range attack, and seems to extend somewhere between 10-15 yards. The Cleave acts as a Chain Cleave and hits between 6,500-15,000. The dramatic increase in damage may be a result of the Cleave chaining, and increasing in damage dealt as it hits more people. Another idea is that the Cleave is limited in the number of targets it hits.
o A PBAoE spell, deals 2,200-2,500 nature damage. Slows movement speed by 60% and attack speed by 30%.
* Void Bolt
o A strong bolt he may cast only on the player with aggro, deals 4000-5000 shadow damage. Also reduces movement speed by 60%.
* Capture Soul
o When a player gets killed, Lord Kazzak casts this spell to instantly regenerate a large amount of health (150,000hp roughly 10%). Pets, totems or opposing-faction kills do not trigger this ability. *Opposing faction kills trigger this ability.*
o After 54 seconds Doom Lord Kazzak will enrage, increasing his attack damage by 30%. At this time, Doom Lord Kazzak will send out 6 waves of Shadowbolt Volley. Enrage is a temporary buff that ends after the 6th volley.
We are fighting this guy today and it is looking like the Alliance that are griefing us and getting killed are causing him to heal. Is this supposed to happen?
Anyone know where he falls in the "progression list?" In other words, what instance-level gear is required for him?
I'm assuming it's:
Is that correct?
The bastard can hit flying mounts- did 12200 dam to me while I was on my epic hovering in front fo him - just took 2 steps and hit me with the big sword of his.
So if you want a great screen shot- ungear first

Subject: Lord Kazzak Griefing Policy
The introduction of Outdoor Raid Encounters in the most recent patch has added an entirely new dimension to the World of Warcraft. Players are now allowed to participate in high-end content without the time investment necessary to hack one's way to the bottom of the dankest dungeons. The addition of these encounters opens up new game dynamics, both good and bad. While we do not wish to detract from the positive aspects of these encounters, we feel it necessary to address certain negative aspects to preserve the gameplay experience for all.
In contrast to Outdoor Raid Encounters, dungeons have been created as instances to allow multiple groups of players to participate in difficult encounters simultaneously and without being hindered by the actions of other like-minded players. Outdoor raid encounters have no such allowances and as such, open themselves up to instances of player collision.
An example of this player collision can be seen with one of the Outdoor Raid bosses, Lord Kazzak. While we expect a certain amount of competition for such high-end creeps, some players have been abusing Kazzak's special abilities with the specific intent to harass other players. At this time, our In-Game Support Staff (Game Masters) will be taking action against players who do not allow other groups to combat Lord Kazzak as intended by the Development Team.
Below are some examples of what we will and will not be taking action against. These examples are broken down by PVP (Player vs. Player) and PVE (Player vs. Environment), as the differing rulesets affect our stance. Keep in mind that these are extreme situations used to clearly illustrate what we do and do not find acceptable. Not all instances will be as cut-and-dry as those listed below. Game Master discretion will be used in grey-area occurrences.
When a group of players has engaged Lord Kazzak, any other players interfering in the encounter may be given a warning, regardless of faction, as in the examples below:
* A group of Alliance characters has legitimately engaged Lord Kazzak and a level 1 Horde character engages Lord Kazzak as well (Level 1 Horde player receives warning).
* A group of Horde characters has legitimately engaged Lord Kazzak and a level 1 Horde character engages Lord Kazzak as well (Level 1 Horde player receives warning).
When a group of players has engaged Lord Kazzak, any same-faction players interfering in the encounter may be given a warning as in the examples below:
* A group of Alliance characters has legitimately engaged Lord Kazzak and a level 1 Alliance character engages Lord Kazzak as well (Level 1 Alliance player receives warning).
However, when a group of players has engaged Lord Kazzak, any players of the opposing faction interfering in the encounter are free to do so as a PVP resolution is available to the "victims."
* A group of Alliance characters has legitimately engaged Lord Kazzak and a level 1 Horde character engages Lord Kazzak as well (No warnings given).
What is the recommended number of players in the raid - 10 or 25 or maybe 30 ?
When we did him we found him to hit 10K on plate, but that wasn't really our problem. Our problem was that horde were flying in and purposely feeding him so that he regains health. Now blizzard said in the last patch that only the people in the raid could feed him.. but its obviously not the caseas countless naked horde would fly in to feed this guy.
With the exception of the DPS warrior gear not much of what is dropped here is truly worth it. The equivalent gear can be found in Kara or Gruul and downing this guy is more about prestigue than any actual guild progression
Why does it say he appears in Elwynn Forest and Stormwind City? Glitch/bug?
Maybe a bit of a stupid question, but Iw as wondering how many items he drops when he kicks the bucket. Is it two or three purplies? The extra epic can make a difference in our decision to put him on our to-farm list.
Thanks in advance,
how progressed should your guild be before they should try take this guy down?
With the 2.4 patch, Kazzak's loots will be BoE. He will also loot more gold.
my question is... where is he at? in ptr hes gone
If you're not in a group that has him tagged, but he kills you; do you regenerate 150 000hp of his? You could really screw people over if this were true. I assume it's not but a nice comment for this guy would be to confirm this.
Where did they move him post 2.4?
There are now daily quests at the throne of Kil'jaeden and Kazzak isnt there!
They made his loot boe and made him drop more gold but where did they put him?
Be careful of this guy when completing dailies from Magistrix Seyla. I've seen a lot of people get one-shotted when accidentally getting into his aggro radius. This can be extremely annoying when the only Wrath Heralds or Incandescent Fel Sparks (Or whatever they're called) are nearby him.
So, try keeping your distance
I'm still wondering what blizzard is thinking adding a questing area just under doom lord Kazzak. You will never be able to kill him unless you do it late at the night because someone will just run by and die from his volley or do something stupid.
I was doing the daily quests by him. A rogue, I think, was trying to kill the heralds in front of Kazzak and got too close. Kazzak 1-hit him with his sword. I was getting $%^&ed because I died a couple times, but that made me LOL.
I also want to add, that it is not a smart idea to be a spectator to a raid trying to kill him... His shadow bolts doesn't only hit the raid members, but pretty much anyone, that is within range... I found out the hard way -.-
Beware the nightmare vine in front of him. That's his bait.
Can he be kited to Shattrath?
I've never fought this guy, but I just about had a heart attack when I got to Hellfire and heard him yelling. A loud, unexpected voice roaring 'The Legion will conquer all!' is not the sort of thing you want to hear while running from a Fel Reaver.
Just a little comment on the description on the "Throne of Kil'jaeden" on this page. It says you can only access this area by the use of a flying mount, but obviously you can also summon a fellow player and use the teleport ability you get as a questreward at Quel'Danas!
Anyone know why most of his epics are BoE?
yea dont fly anywhere near him. he has like a 50 yard aggro range, and it even works in midair.
i got one shooted for 16000 damage while flying by, then upon ressing (at his feet was the only place able to) i got crushing blow'd for 26000.
Downed on Eitrigg, by Crusaders of Aegwynn.
2 epics, Staff and Cloth pants...
Anyone have a confirmation on his respawn?
(35man raid, 2 attempts, had some flagged horde around as well. If you can live thru his first enrage, you're good to go)
70 Draenei Shaman
Crusader of Aegwynn
Shaman Class Leader.
Notice me sticking out of the center of his chest.
spawns at about 63,13 if i'm not mistaken.
No event, but he probably has a long spawn rate... he spawns at a huge throne at about 63,19
For those with no coords, that's north of thrallmar, and a little to the east... in the mountains... i don't know for sure, but belive you need a flying mount to see him.
each time he kills anyone he heals himself for exactly 150000 everytime.
1. you need a flying mount to get to where he is
2. you cant kite him to any city/outpost because hes in a giant bowl with a bunch of felreaver buddies
3. i was able to fly right through him on my mount its not until you get to about below his waste will he agro you on your flying mount (guess hes a bit sensitive).
Did a 32 man raid against him, with 30 70 fire mages, 1 70 frost mage, and a 70 arcane mage. WE hit him with pyroblast all at the same time, got him down to around 94-95% hp. Then he ran at us and pretty much one shotted each and every one of us. Sucked. Dont try it without a solid group. :)
Low gravity on Outlands I guess...
You need a Heroics<-->Karazhan Geared 30-40 man raid to down him. That means everyone in the raid must have a little bit of kara experience/gear.
Your Main Tank, raid buffed, needs to have at least 15k health and armor with 18% dodge & parry and 25% block. He will get hit for 8k, but the attacks are slow and successful blows are infrequent. Keep him topped off.
I recommend having an equally geared druid tank standing by to pick up agro with a charge and taunt should the MT lose threat.
You NEED two or three resto druids keeping the entire raid topped off.
You NEED two or three Holy Paly's in the raid.
You NEED at least one Holy Priest and one Holy Paly keeping the Tank/s and Melee DPS alive.
The raid should have three shadow priests. One for the Resto Druids, one for the Tank's healers, and one for the highest DPS group using mana.
You should NOT have more than 7-8 healers in the raid. 2 Resto Druids, 3 Paladins, and 1 or 2 Priests is the way to go.
If at all possible have as much ranged DPS as you can. He has an insane chain cleave that increases damage with the number of players it hits. Having your melee DPS directly behind him helps.
After a minute he enrages, sending out 6 Shadow Bolt Volleys in a row. EVERYONE but the Palys and tank/s need to run like hell for the duration. Palys bubble and spam heal tank/s.
If someone in the raid dies, Kazzak gains about 8% of his health back instantly.
If you can set up a raid like this you can down this guy. He is easier than Mag, especially if you do it right.
Good Luck and Have Fun!
is it just me or does this guy look like a deformed demon tauren?
Important fact you shouldn't know!: You can spam all alliance and horde in hellfire by aggroing him. Eye of Kilrogg works well.
With patch 2.4, his loot will be boe.
Better start saving for hope ender, all ye rogues for whom spiteblade wont drop.
My guild was never one much for world bosses, but one day we got a wild bug up our collective bottoms and decided to tackle Kazzak, just to see if we could do it. We gathered up every raider we could find and managed to scrape up about 30 - about half of us outfitted in Kara gear or equivalent, and the other half sporting ZA gear with the odd piece of T5. Main tank was our best-geared protection warrior, and heals consisted of myself and one other holy paladin, two resto shamans, a resto druid and three holy priests, one of whom was LV69 (!) and had to be summoned up onto the ledge with Kazzak by one of our locks. DPS was heavily ranged with the odd smattering of melee. We even had two of our guildies dual-box their Alliance accounts and bring an extra boomkin and hunter to get in on the fun.
The trick to Kazzak, once you've cleared the adds around his dais, is to push as hard as you can as fast as you can. If the fight lasts over about a minute and a half, you will need some serious luck to finish. From the start everyone rushed in and stayed packed tightly together in their respective melee/caster group, to maximize AOE heal efficiency. Both paladins focused on chain-casting max-rank Holy Light on the main tank as their only task. DPS unloaded as soon as the tank had enough aggro (boosted by Misdirects on the tank and Blessing of Salvation on DPS) but kept their cooldowns for the shadow volley. When the shadow volley came, everyone popped every CD they had, bubbles, trinkets, pots, freakin' Cloak of Shadows, whatever was clickable and ready. This combined with AOE heals from the shamans and priests allowed us to DPS straight through the shadow volleys and make up a lot of time that we would have otherwise lost "getting the hell out of there" as other strategies advised. We did not have a single death with this approach.
Drops were the healer staff (which, amusingly, went to the 69 holy priest), the plate tanking gloves, and one random green. XD
I've found a great new sport.
With all of the people doing dailies, you wait for a few to be near Kazzak. Fly up to him on epic FM, pull him to people, see how many people he owns.
My record is 4 including myself.
You dont *!@# with Kazzak's
i wonder if u can kite him to thrallmar or somthing
Beware the Nightmare Vine in front of him. That's his bait.
My guild downed him yesterday.
35 epic geared lv 70's
Its mainly a burndown fight. People need to keep themselves alive with shadowprot potions and bandages, and then just noook the living hell out of him. Fun fight and great lewt.. We had Leggings and ender of hope (looks like spiteblade from kara), Would like to see our rouge dw it since it looks niiize ^^'
Can't wait to face of against the new and improved kazzak in Outland, should be alot of fun.
there is a way up without flying mount
u have to jump walls which takes alot of patience and right timing
i just came to hellfire and i am HATING this guy hes pissing me off with all his yellings if he wants a challenge why cant he just come down?
As this version of Kazzak is an over-the-top damage race, take as many rogues, mages, hunters and, of course, warlocks as you can.
Guide to be found at
Doom Lord Kazzak Strategy Guide
kazzak, i flew up to him, and he hit me for 17000 (i was 68) and i died mid-air,
then i couldnt rez cuz i was to high up so i had to go all the way to HH and rez
This is a link to the fight
We had 40 players in a pug(mostly end game players).
Dropped him in 52 seconds.
seems somebody killed him in beta or now , since there some item that ''have dropped''
In the Icelord in BG link they talk about Kazzak. . . why arnt you guys talking about the Icelord?
downed by nihilum:
im on smolderthorn and i was watching NA an end game hord guild try to kill him with like 30 ppl and they got him down to like 4% rly fast and all of sudden they all died at the same time and he got full health :/
It's odd that most of his drops don't have stamina in them. Maybe because he doens't have much health himself ;).

Is this the strongest boss?.
The only way to get up there is witha flying mount, DUH!
He is an outdoor raid encounter, designed for a 25-man raid. Should be around the Tier 4 level, with Magtheridon, Gruul, and the Doomwalker.
? boss mob, only acessable by a flyer, I think hes a 10 man but thats just a guess.
Druid healer boots
A melee dps sword
A melee DPs ring
Hunter/Melee shammy pants
Dps warrior shoulders
DPS caster pants (cloth)
a healing ring
Tank gloves (plate)
about t4 quality.. Nice considering theres only 2-3 trash mobs int eh way

Anyone know his current respawn timer in TBC Classic?
Can probably update the Quotes section since a few are just his generic targeted macro.
No need to include duplicate quotes with targeted players/mobs
