Seed of Corruption – Randomly targeted, Causes 400 Shadow damage ever 3 seconds. After taking 2500 total damage, Seed of Corruption detonates, dealing Shadow damage to the Zereketh’s enemies within 10 yards.
Unbound Void Zone – Randomly placed in the room, Deals about 1400-1600 shadow damage a second to any player within the Void Zone.
Shadow Nova – 40 yard range AoE, deals about 2200-2400 shadow damage and knocks players back.
Melee – Shadow damage based melee attack, Zereketh hits for about 1300-2000 dmg a swing.
The Void Zones tend to be placed under players in the party INCLUDING the MT, all members need to be cautious.
Only thing I'd like to add is that the void zones aren't the same as any other one you've seen (animation wise) all it is is a blackened area on the ground with a dark ring coming out fairly low to the ground, very easy to miss, especailly if you're tanking and have your back to a wall for the knockback or you're looking for the larger, flashier void zones that usually spawn.
At heroic the shadow nova do about 4k damage, he melees also for around 4k / hit. range of the shadow nova is 45 yards too.
sor and the void zones do around 2.5k each.
Void zones are not random: they are placed under players/player objects in the room. Be prompt about moving out of them, or you will be taking a lot of unneccessary damage.
Additionally, if you have any classes capable of summoning pets (totems included), you can "bait" void zones by placing pets around the room, near the boss, but away from players. Totems should be placed away from players, but close enough to give buffs, as they are valid targets for being voided. Every time I have encountered this boss, he has placed at least two voids under totems. Since totems are immune to magic damage, it was a waste on the boss's part.
Just wanted to add that my group (Feral druid, Resto druid, Elemental Shaman, Enhancement Shaman and a warlock) had no problem doing this boss, we let the lock tank because the boss only does shadow dmg and let the rest full dps him
what my group did.
We pulled him and when MT got 5 sunders we pulled onto the walkway heading up, This way all the Ranged can avoid the circles. then when a circle spawns i run back and my group does too, this makes the fight extremely easy. If u have a rogue or feral druid put them behind him so he won't nuke them to death, If u get the De-buff healer needs to put HoTS on tank and do one greater heal on the afflicted person. this fight is hard if u have 1 rogue 1 feral druid ( cat) and 1 fury warrior + tank because it gets RETARDEDLY hard, HoTS ARE KEY IF U HAVE MELEE DPS!
P.S. I don't know if this was fixed in patch 2.1.0. :)
My group owned him with
Protection warrior (Me)
Just tanked him on Heroic as a Fury warrior with about 332~ Shadow Resists 11.5k~ HP. He was hitting me most times for around 600-1000, most of the time in the 600-700 area and resisted all but one Nova and even then it was mostly resisted, only hit for around 1k.
Group make up was me (fury warrior with 332 Shadow Resist w/ priest buff) Prot War (didn't bring shadow resist =p), Holy Priest, Fire Mage, Balance Druid.
Fight pretty much depends on everyones ability to move out of the shadow circles ASAP and getting the party heals out after the nova and the person with Corruption getting away from everyone.
On heroic, you really should come prepared or you'll suffer many wipes.
* Two healers are good, one for tank, one for party
* Hunters spec pets with shadow resist and avoidance
* Prayer of shadow protection and resist potion
* If you have no priest you need a paladin for the resist aura
* Shadow resist gear doesn't hurt either
I don't think you can survive this with only one healer, esp. not if nobody can give you additional shadow resistance.
Greens of Shadow Resistance.
If you can't get him down on heroic, don't despair-- he is skippable, and the rest of the instance is a lot more forgiving.
When healing, the main annoyance is the knockback. You can't avoid it, it can't be outranged, will hit you all the time (to the point that you'll occasionally get knocked back again before you even made it into healing range of the tank), and unless you can keep your back against an appropriate wall you're literally going to spend most of your time running back inside healing range. With a healing class that doesn't have any HoTs, this basically means you're screwed.
There is a nice spot to put the tank and healer in his corner, on opposite sides and within range. This works fine unless he puts a void zone under the healer, forcing you to abandon your corner and nice wall... in which case, see above.
Depending on party setup, this guy may be a complete waste of your time, even in a very well geared party.
alright, for this guy, he does a huge AoE/Knockback for around 1500-2k shadow damage. he also spawns little black circles, just dont stand in them, he also puts this seed on someone from time to time that does 400 shadow dmg every few seconds and 2500 shadow dmg to ppl around that person, its somewhat like seed of corruption from a warlock, so besides that, just tank, hold aggro, heal, w/e. and GG =)
This boss is hard as hell. You need a good healer.
I've seen the warrior piece (Rubium Girdle) drop three times of my last six times downing him, and have NEVER seen the boots drop.
I don't drive a hunter, but I feel bad for y'all.
hard as balls on heroic
This guy is soooo hard. Im a holy paladin and i have never been able to heal past him. Whenever im healing the tank he always pops a hole right under me in mid heal and i end up dieing. Does anyone have any good tips cuz i really want to get to the Wrath Scryer boss so i can get that kick ass Mace that is sooo hot haha.
This guy isn't so bad if you know what he is capable of. First off, the tank needs to stand up against a wall, any wall, no need to be picky about location. This is to prevent distancing yourself from him when he uses his knockback. If you have a paladin in the party, get him to switch to shadow resistance aura. This considerably reduces the damage causes by his shadow nova. His knockback does around 1.3-1.7k damage (with shadow resistence aura) to anyone within range, so it's a good idea for the healer to either get off a heal before, or be far enough away that you are not affected, and start putting hots on the tank in midair. Everyone else, just stand behind him and start whacking away, and try for the occasional stun. I'm honestly not sure if he's immune or not. Holding aggro is easy, not once during the fight did I lose control, and it helps to have the Righteous Defence macro, which allows RD to act as a Warrior's taunt does, letting you pull the aggro back to yourself without deselecting the boss. He goes down real easy after you get the hang of it.
(As a side note, warriors should use their intercept in mid-air. you literally charge through the air at him. Quite comical.) For The Horde!
Concerning Heroic Zereketh.
After many times trying and failing, I finally found a way to take Zereketh in Heroic mode. The secret is LoS (Line of Sight). My group tanked him near the doorway/hallway just before you enter his room. The healers and your ranged DPS must stay in the hall, while the tank keeps Zereketh near the doorway so that ranged DPS can still attack.
Your party must remember that every once in a while one of you will get something like seed of corruption. This is ONLY bad if that person is in Line of Sight with Zereketh. When he does his shadow explosion thing, the one with the seed will explode anybody (and themself) within a certain range. When that person gets it, then that person must get out of Line of Sight, don;t worry about losing DPS, you can pick it up once it's over.
Also, for melee, try to guess when Zereketh will do his shadow explosion, so you can try to get out of LoS as well, just to make things easier on your healer, no need to make things harder for the healers.
This fight is rough on the healer. So it's important to stay spread out, keep a constant eye out for the black spots (as they'll drop u in about 2 tics), and to be mindful of ur distance from the healer so as not to make their job any more difficult.
If ur tanking, keep ur back to the wall but don't stand right up against it, as it makes it harder to see when a spot pops up.
Most importantly, keep distance between the player that has the aoe debuff thingy and any other player, and watch the ground so u can get off a spot if one spawns underneath u.
Heroic mode is very frustrating if your group is not of the ideal setup.
You really need your healer to be on their game or bring an off healer. Pala healing may struggle without druid/priest party heals.
We went (heroic) twice, but each time took a different healer class. first we took a tree druid who kept us all alive (just) with me as shadowpriest doing Vampiric embrace healing to help out the shadow nova damage.
Priest shadow resist prayer seemingly doesn't stack with pally shadow resist aura, although it may be a game bug it showed as 70 resist points instead of 140 as expected.
Second run we took a paladin who struggled to keep up despite being a good healer, desperately needed >1 Target heals. Apparently the novas can be avoided by hugging irregularities in the wall (out of LOS) but cannot be avoided by distance. Only the knockback is distance capped.
Make sure you're moving around lots, to prevent the shadow AoE holes from getting you (these tick 2-3 times in a matter of seconds before killing a squishy) and anybody who is SOC debuffed, stay away from the rest of the party to avoid localised damage.
Any tips for this guy on Heroic? Such as a good group setup and any strategy points to keep in mind?
Guys get as much Shadow Resist as you can if u are having problems. if u have at least some u can either have some of the damage reduced, or resist the shadow nova, or void zones completely.
i hope this is useful info.
-Crylloga Sen'Jin, 36 mage, 70 warrior,
The only time I did this boss was on my second 70, getting Kara attune again, he died in less than a minute, so I am not too sure if he is supposed to be hard or not.
Wondering, as I want to snag the shoulders just for the looks. (considering they're horrible)
This boss puts a Seed of Corruption on one person every 30 seconds, it does 400dmg a tick.
He does a shadow nova knock back that does 1500-2500 damage
He will randomly place void zones on the group that do 3k damage.
This boss is quite easy... Its quite a good idea to clean room around him tho.. in case tanks looses agro and he knockbacks someone into a mob...
My group found this boss quite tough (a pug, admittedly). The void zones are not exactly randomly placed - they appear underneath someone, and that person will take at least one tic of damage for ~1.5k unless they are running (it's important for everyone to watch the floor under their feet, or they can die very quickly).
I found it difficult to keep everyone's health up enough that a nova/void zone combination wouldn't kill people on occasion, and the longer the fight lasts, the more times that will happen. (It was very sad to see someone combat rezzed only to die from a void zone a second later.) It took us four tries (with varying tactics), but we finally had two people left standing on the last one.
I noticed that if you have a shaman in the group that if you put a searing totem near him the searing totem has a chance of having the void zone placed under it instead of any of the other group members.
This boss on hc is easily the biggest cluster!@#$ as a resto shaman, due to the lack of instant healing casts or bubble. Your best bet is to stay near your tank and position yourself so that the knockback pushes you against the wall. Then spam Chain Heal on your tank and make sure you are within 10 yards range so Chain Heal can jump to you as well. Don't bother with melee dds, as they will be healed by this as well. Your ranged dds have the lowest priority. They can dodge Shadow Nova (50 yards range) if they are quick and heal themselves with potions, healthstones and bandages. If they die, it's their fault and theirs alone. Throw them some Lesser Healing Waves, if - and only if - you can spare the time. Don't be afraid of letting them die, it might be a necessary sacrifice.
