This is one of the bosses in the Black Temple, which is currently being tested on the PTR's.
Looks kinda cool for a boss you don't have to do Black Temple to see him. Though you won't get his loot until you do.
There's a quest chain in SMV specially dealing with him and his release.
A Haunted History (Horde)
A Ghost in the machine (Alliance)
Sure hope thats a caster wep that he drops >P
Robe of the Shadow Council
Equip: Spell critical strike rating by 28
Equip: Dmg and healing by 73
officially the coolest weapon ever seen on any boss in my opinion
wat u think?
that sword looks so freaking cool!!, he must drop it at some point in the game
is drop of Soul Cleaver good or he drops it rarely?
yes,that sword is cool ;D
His weapon is not a sword, its a staff, download Model Viewer and look at the item/weapon tab for "Stave_blacktemple". It should be the 3rd or so of about 5 or so. It is a awesome model, great detail and craftmanship went into, too bad its not a in-game item. It would the staff to end all staffs lol.
A little reminder that is actually missing from most strategies, the pet bar will look like this:
1 Spirit Strike (melee attack, use on Teron if you are done with Constructs)
3 Spirit Lance (slowing attack)
4 Spirit Chains (AoE shackle)
5 Spirit Volley (AoE attack)
7 Spirit Shield
With this you can bind easy to access keys to those from game options as having quick access to 3, 4 and 5 is very important. Killing Constructs is fun!
Today we confirmed that hearthing while affected with Shadow of Death will spawn your constructs as soon as you leave the instance.
This is a simulator in which you can practice the part when you get the shadow of death debuff in the Teron Gorefiend fight, after 55 seconds you die and become a ghost which you can control. 4 constructs spawn and try to get to your raid & will slow+damage the raid you must stop that from happening.
Best is to aoe first (Spirit Volley) (has 15 sec CD) then aoe shackle (Spirit Chains) right after it, then tab target all 4 constructs and Spirit Lance each of them. The slowing from Spirit Lance stays on for 9secs and can be stacked up to 3 times (which causes 90% movement reduction and they'll barely move) so make sure you're Spirit Lancing each construct fast. When everything goes fine they should be dead after 2 shackles (and are on half way to the raid).
When you're done killing your pack (the simulator stops here) you should help out others with the debuff and nuke their constructs.
GL ! =]
edit: fixed link
is it just me or do other people wish he dropped that sword hes holding
that looks ausome!
A little lore just for fun:
Teron gorefiend was once one of Gul'dan's warlocks, before Doomhammer destroyed most of Gul'dan's Shadow Council, which consisted of warlocks (and probably also some other of Gul'dan's servants). Before becoming leader of the Horde, Doomhammer also destroyed the former Horde leader, Blackhand, who was under the control of Gul'dan. Doomhammer was also about to finish Gul'dan, who had been "sleeping" during this whole slaughter, but he spared Gul'dan, who convinced Doomhammer that he would need his powers if he were to conquer Azeroth. Gul'dan promised to help the Horde by making some kind of army to add to the Horde, and he did. Teron Gorefiend, who was a former warlock and slain by Doomhammer, was raised again by Gul'dan and his ogre companion Cho'gall and had his soul put into a human corpse (who had been slain during the Horde's siege of Stormwind) with new and enhanced powers. Teron Gorefiend is a so-called Death Knight.
How he ended up in Black Temple, however, I don't know.
Noob question, but is there anything to decipher which constructs are yours versus your neighbors? or is it just that the timer is spaced that there can't really be more than one set of constructs in the same part of the field. (Unless of course they aren't tagged and bolting for the raid. O_O)
Are these abilities linked to a global cooldown?
Here's a little game for everyone to practice against the constructs ;)
Lame it would be cool to have his sword
can the ghost use spirit lance while the construct you selected behind you ?
is it just me or is any one else highly disapointed that he doesn't drop that badass 2h sword hes holding? i mean soul cleavers the %^&* but that looks coler
One thing to note about the Ghost phase. If you're using a bar mod add-on such as Bongos, you will not have your "main" bar get replaced by the Ghost bar. Instead, you will have to use your pet bar.
I countered this by employing 3 macros set up on a different, unused bar that I make visible only during the Teron encounter. The macros read as:
/cast Spirit Chains
/cast Spirit Lance
/cast Spirit Volley
You may also choose to macro Spirit Shield and Strike, however as they are not the most priority spells I feel just as safe click-casting them once my Constructs are dead. Macroing the critical spells and hot-keying them goes a long way towards cutting down your Constructs once you get hit with SoD.
One other suggestion-- start spamming Spirit Chains seconds before you die. You want to make sure that it gets cast IMMEDIATELY when you die and your Constructs spawn. Speed is everything here, the faster the Constructs get the inital lock-down the faster you can start tabbing through them to Lance them. Some people recommend doing a Volley THEN a chains, and this is fine if you're practiced enough with the Ghosts, but if not, opening with Chains is far safer. You will have ample time to drop your ghosts before they get to the raid even if you do not open with Volley.
After that it's just a matter of practice. The game linked in this thread is good, but it is nowhere near as good as practical experience.
This fight is considered the best test of a raid's DPS, as the fight allows your DPS to do nothing but attack the boss unless they get hit with Shadow of Death. Because of the nature of Gorefiend's abilities, the higher your raid's DPS the better. Recommend opening with MDs onto the tank and Bloodlusts all around when able to make sure that both initial threat is high and that damage on Teron is high from the opening, so long as no one is generating more threat than your tank, of course.
to me it seems that on the screenshot of him he is human..but in the 3D he is orc..wtf?
This is a relativley simple battle as long as the entire raid knows whats they are doing. When he casts shadow of death, you are still able to do some damage before you die. When the time is almost up, run to one of the corners. When you spawn back as a ghost, immediatley use the ice blast skill to freeze all of them. Then, just use the skill set on numbe 2 switching between mobs to kill them. It is seriously reccommended that you practice using
Be aware that you will still probably screw up your first time no matter how many times you play the game. As long as the first person to get the debuff gets his/hers down quickly. Everyone can start helping everyone else get down their mobs. Try to use soulstones or ressurections as much as possible to get people up when they die. A bad combonation of who he debuffs can easily cause a failiure. Have fun!
Lore-wise Teron Gorefiend's story can be found here
Here's the brief cap
He was a orc warlock of the shadow council, died by the hands of Doomhammer's followers, but Gul'dans assistants reanimated him into the first Death Knight. As a powerful Death Knight, he was asigned by Ner'Zhul to capture the Eye of Dalaran from the mage-city of Dalaran, his attempt failed and he fled to Shadowmoon Valley, where he committed suicide after slaying his Death Knight followers.
He looks more human-like than orcish because Gul'Dan used a human knight's body to be reanimated into Teron Gorefiend
A rogue in my raid found out that he could avoid Shadow of Death by vanishing as it was cast if he was the target. Could anyone else confirm this? It may also be possible to cancel his cast with feign death or bubble.
A small trick to increase damage on this fight:
Tank him facing the way you came in with all the melee behind him and all the range/healers in front on the stair side. This will cause him to turn and face the melee less often while casting on random raid members, reducing the number of parries, and increasing melee dps.
Also: Snake traps are *very* useful, as the snakes can be chosen as targets for his random shadow bolts instead of a raid member.
First off, a little shadow resist helps so if you have any of the Ashtongue craftable SR items, throw one or two of them on.
Here's what you do when you get Shadow of Death:
1. When the debuff is at ~20 seconds, move to the spot (back corner of the room).
Face the corner
and put your
back to the boss
3. As soon as you see them pop up, do the AoE called
(hotkey 5). You should still be facing the corner with your back to the boss.
4. Immediately after the AoE, do the Frost Nova AoE called
5. Back up a little bit so that you are between the constructs and Teron Gorefiend. Your back should STILL be facing Gorefiend.
6. Now, you first need to
Spirit Lance them at least once each
in a cycle.
This can be done by tab targeting (which should target the closest one first, if you are positioned correctly) or by clicking. I have done both and they both work. I find the best is to click them each one-by-one and press "3".
7. After they are all hit once and slowed, just start Spirit Lancing whichever one is closest to you. If another construct passes it and gets closer, switch to that one.
8. If you are Pro, when the AoE cooldown is up, use it again followed immediately by a Frost Nova (the AoE takes the slowing effects off).
9. If you do this correctly, your constructs will be dead before they even reach halfway to the raid. /flex and brag in raid chat, then use your remaining time to go help the next person with their constructs.
I know that seems like a lot to take in, but it really isn't. Here is a summary:
When you die from the debuff, move to the spot and put your
Stay between the constructs and the raid the whole time.
Do Spirit Volley (AoE) -> Spirit Chains (Frost Nova) -> Spirit Lance in that order (5, 4, 3, switch target, 3, switch target, 3...).
Teron Gorefiend is at Coord. 58,71. Not that hard to find but i couldnt find it for awhile, so here it is.
Teron gorefiend is a boss in blacktemple
Yes, he's located to the south in Shadowmoon Valley, but that incarnation of him is for a quest, and is not hostile.
You fight him in black temple.
someone please that has killed him in the black temple get a screen shot of him and put it in i wish to compare to him in the other pics of him outside
58, 71. Teron Gorefiend is at the Alter of Shadows. Talk to the guy standing there. After the fight, he runs off saying "Teron Gorefiend has returned." Which is probably when I guess he goes to the Black Temple.
With the release of Black Temple, Teron Gorefiend has gotten a new image from the Orc in Warlock tier 5 as well as the ancient Draenei jailer. Teron Gorefiend is a boss in Black Temple.
man if that weapon hes holding existed it would be awesome as hell
Duh, he was my favorite char in WC2, now he looks even more awesome :O too bad he doesn't have that badass voice he used to have
Who is this guy anyway i know hes in Black Temple....anyone got any info on him?
idk try wowwiki or something.....there might be crap load of info on him
I heard this guy drops a really good dps weapon Soul Cleaver
To the upcoming Rise of the lich king Teron Gorefiend is in fact a Death Knight no only that one of the first as you fight him and take a look at him you get a probable idea of some qualities of what a death knight is, will be.
easy and fun boss 4th in BT
No need to die at all. Enter the Netherwing Fields around 58,54 and head towards Netherwing Pass at 62,63. Lots of air elementals to farm motes from on the way in and out.
for thoose interested in the lore of this guy, here is some info.
Orgrim Doomhammer's first act as warchief of the Horde was to crush the orc warlocks of the Shadow Council. He grudgingly spared the council's former master, Gul'dan, in exchange for the warlock's servitude; in turn Gul'dan promised to create a host of powerful new warriors to serve the Horde. After experimenting at length with the souls of the recently slain council members, Gul'dan successfully instilled the spirit of the necrolyte Teron Gorefiend into the corpse of a fallen knight of Stormwind. Thus, the first terrifying death knight was born. Gul'dan transformed other council members as well, creating unholy warriors who sowed chaos and fear throughout the land of Azeroth during the Second War.
Following Gul'dan's desertion and death, part of the Horde, including the death knights, retreated through the Dark Portal to Draenor. Most of the surviving death knights disappeared after Draenor's destruction, with the exception of Teron Gorefiend, whose restless and embittered form resides now in the Black Temple of Outland.
and pleace note that im not making this up, its copied directly from the death knight lore site on wrath of the lick king site
so this guy is basically a warlock with some of the new abilities from the next expansion?
Can someone write what he says during the encounter? Does he say like So we meet again etc?
Well I hope the Players say like this, so now we can have our revenge. Muhahahaha, die Teron Gorefiend! :D
