Pretty easy kill for the Alliance. The only hard part is getting there without the horde seeing you.
He warstomps, which is just about as annoying as it is when every other tauren does it, and he has a nasty knockback. Make sure to tank/fight him inside his tent away from the door so you don't go flying off the bluffs and die.
He has a lot of hitpoints (It seemed to be closer to 700,000 than the 70k that the info here reports), so it takes a while to down him. Try to have a couple of hunters or something keeping an eye outside the tent to disrupt any horde attempts at healing Cairne or coming in to break up the party.

Haha, for anyone that has any humor in what Blizz puts in it's games. There is a "peace-pipe" inside Cairne's tent and to the left. It's so big I thought it was a cannon at first!

Not that it's important but our attack on him showed 980k HP and an approximate value of 74g.
Just if anyone cares. Good luck getting to him, goto move quick once you're in TB due to respawn and annoying 60s who get in your way.

Just did a raid on Thunder Bluff today. Went really well, we sacked the AH floor, Elder, and spirit rise. Big tip is not to hit Hunter Rise cause of Elite Battlemasters. We decided to kill Cairne from Hunter but the battlemasters respawned really fast and horde were able to regroup.

Not extremely difficult, just make sure to have casters and the like stay out of range, his AoE really hurts. Slightly harder than Sylvannas, IMHO, but easier than Thrall. Good Luck.

Cairne is a peerless warrior and a wise leader of his ancient people. Though slowed somewhat by the weight of age, Cairne still possesses great strength and valor. This great hearted giant knows that his people are in grave danger of extermination from the marauding centaurs. However, he has never given up hope of one day finding a way to lead his people to a new land where they can make their home and live in peace.
However, between the centaur marauders savage attacks on his people and their hunting of local game to near extinction, Cairne planned to relocate his tribe to the verdant lands of Mulgore. But with centaur attacks growing more and more frequent, Cairne knew that on the open plains they would not be able to defeat them, and he quickly began to lose hope.
Things changed when Cairne met Thrall, the young warchief of the new Orcish Horde, and, watching him battle and destroy a group of centaurs who had been attacking a Tauren, he became intrigued with their nobility and savagery. When Thrall told him that they came to look for their destiny, Cairne directed him to the north, where there was an Oracle.
Thrall reported seeing an army of centaur going north, and Cairne quickly left to defend his village. Thrall brought his followers with him, and followed Cairne to defend the village. After defending against wave after wave of centaur warriors, Cairne told Thrall of his plight, and Thrall vowed to protect the caravan of Tauren as they crossed the barrens to Mulgore, in exchange for the location of the Oracle.
Cairne and Thrall managed to evade and defeat the centaur marauders, and finally made it to Mulgore. Cairne told Thrall that the Oracle was within Stonetalon Peak, and bid him good luck.
Upon arriving at Stonetalon, Thrall was surprised to find that Cairne had sought him out, and pledged to repay the debt they owed Thrall and the Horde. Cairne enlisted the wyverns to help them, and helped to free them from the harpies. He then helped to claim the peak from the humans so that they could enter freely. However, Jaina Proudmoore entered first.
Cairne and Thrall split upon entering the bowels of Stonetalon, and Cairne found an enchanted spirit stone that would activate an ethereal bridge towards the Oracle. When they found the Oracle, Cairne and Thrall found Jaina already there. All three spoke to the Oracle, who told them that they must all ally if they wished to defeat the Burning Legion. The three hesitantly agreed.
Cairne's wisdom and strength, and the power of his tauren warriors, helped Thrall to reclaim Grom Hellscream. In a combined effort, the sorcery of all three races were needed to purge the demonic influence from Hellscream.
United in arms, Cairne pledged the loyalty of his race to the Horde, and together, they managed to defeat the Burning Legion once again.
Cairne Bloodhoof in World of Warcraft.Cairne helped the orcs establish their new nation of Durotar before bidding them farewell and leaving to take his own people to a new land in Mulgore. There, they established a strong defense against the centaurs and harpies who harassed them. Several months later, however, Cairne's son, Baine Bloodhoof, was captured by centaurs. Cairne feared the worst, and slipped into a lethargic depression. His followers scrambled to lead their people adequately, but they were no substitute for Cairne's wisdom. His second, Tagar, tried to help Cairne, but Cairne would not hear of it. Tagar feared that without the leadership of Cairne, the tauren would not last long.
When Rexxar and Rokhan arrived to ask Cairne for the tauren's assistance in the coming battle against Admiral Proudmoore and his Kul Tiras forces , Cairne told them to leave him and tell Thrall that he had died. Tagar told the heroes of Baine's capture, and they quickly left to investigate his disappearance. With the help of Bovan Windtotem, they recovered Baine and returned him to his happy father.
Cairne, overjoyed, told Rexxar that not only would he pledge the service of his people to Thrall once more, he would be returning himself. He joined with Rexxar's band of warriors and returned to Dustwallow, and then helped to repel Proudmoore's forces. Victorious, they then took the fight to the humans and ended Proudmoore's reign of hatred.
Cairne returned to his people and his son in Mulgore.
Cairne also recognized that the nomadic traditions of Tauren society were a danger to the survival of the people. There were few tauren, and their wandering lifestyle meant that they would be vulnerable to attacks by Centaur, Quilboar and other races. With the help of the Horde, Cairne secured the grasslands of Mulgore as a permanent home for the Tauren, and constructed their first city high atop Thunder Bluff.
Though Cairne is a gentle soul, and at an advanced age (he's currently 104), he can still fight ferociously when the need arises. It is rumored that Cairne would willingly turn over the rule of Thunder Bluff if he could find someone worthy, and spend the last years of his life in the wilds.
From World of Warcraft - Tauren Lore at BlizzPlanet.com:
Cairne Bloodhoof
Cairne is dedicated to serving his people and to watching over their safety in an ever-darkening world. An outstanding warrior, Cairne is considered one of the most dangerous creatures alive. Despite his strength and valor, he is a gentle soul who longs only for the peace and tranquility of the open plains. It is rumored that if he could lay the responsibilities of chieftain on another, Cairne would leave Thunder Bluff in an instant and retire to the wilds. Many believe that he is training his son, Baine, to take his place as chieftain one fateful day.
Bloodhoof Runespear
This article or section contains information taken from the Warcraft RPG books which may not be found in other sources of lore.
Every inch of this massive spear is carved with tauren tribal runes. It has been handed down through many generations of the Bloodhoof line, and is currently in the possession of Cairne Bloodhoof. Each owner carves his own major history into the shaft before passing it on to the next generation.S&L 164

When you come across the Hungry Hungry Lizard in Mission 7 of the Orc campaign while controlling Cairne, wait for the lizard to chew down a forest of mushrooms and clear a path to some treasure.
Quotes
"I am Cairne, chief of the Bloodhoof tauren. You greenskins fight with savagery and valor. I am intrigued."
"Our debt to you orcs can only be repaid with blood. We've come to help you reach the Oracle. However, those metal-clad pinkskins look like trouble."
"Ha! There's no need to coddle me, boy. I may be old, but I'm not helpless."
(to Rexxar)"Now, you said that your warchief was in trouble--that the Horde needed the tauren once again. Well, Thrall did much for us in his time, and we will not fail him. My warriors will rendezvous with the warchief upon the battlefield, but I will be returning with YOU!"

Does anybody know if any player obtainable weapon in the game has the same model as his... totem mace? Or trunk mace? Because it looks extremely cool
((please dont down-rate this until it is answered lol))
EDIT: Found it in Model viewer. So if you wanna see its looks on your character, search for Cairnes Totem Weapon in model viewer

It is strange, however, that Blizzard changed Cairne's weapon. I know those who played WC 3, Cairne wielded some kind of hallberd. Not that I dislike the totem as a weapon, but I suppose they could leave him like in WC 3. It's still cool, yet intimidating.

Health: 1,100,000
Group Size: 10-40 (Has been done with 5 people many times with no horde interference)
Drops: 60-180 Gold
Honor Gain: 5,000-6,000 (Leader) Split among living participants upon his death
Basic
-------------
Cairne Bloodhoof is practically the easiest faction leader in the game. He has just over 1 Million health and several abilities that let him pack a punch, but nothing you can't handle without reading about it ahead of time.
Strategy
--------------
To start, you DO NOT want to run straight through the city to get to him. This will cause an ungodly amount of guards to spawn. Instead, come up the main elevator and immediately take your raid to the right, straddling across the edge of Thunder Bluff. By staying on the right behind the buildings the entire time, it will take you directly behind Cairne's tent with no guards. This is where you can buff and get ready. (Be wary of the NPC on the left backside of his tent, they can spawn guards if someone gets to close.)
As soon as Cairne is aggroed, he will spawn a number of guards that's dependent on the amount of hostile players in his range. Simply put, the more people you have, the more guards are going to spawn. Thunder Bluff guards have a "Backhand" ability that knocks you down for a few seconds. It's advised that you immediately rush Cairne into his tent so all the guards follow, then AE bomb them down. Guards will respawn every 3-5 minutes as well, so make sure your AE group has enough mana to take care of it. You'll be fighting Cairne in his tent, so make sure your raid members are positioned so that horde outside will not get an easy ranged shot from outside. If horde do attack, do NOT venture outside his tent. Reposition yourself where they cannot attack you. Going outside will most likely cause more NPCs to summon more guards.
You'll want the tank/melee group to goto the right and all ranged attackers to the left. The tank should have his back against the right wall of the tent, and the casters on the far left wall with lots of range between the two groups. If all is going well, Cairne will not be doing big damage to the caster group at all. The only damage they will take is from Berserker Charge (explained later) and spawning guards. He will do a thunderclap every few seconds that hits for around 1k and slows attack/movement speed to all melee. He'll also do a cleave that used to attack all melee in 360 degrees, but people said it now only hits targets in front of him. In any case, only have the main tank standing in front of him. Every 15-30 seconds, he will perform a berserker charge. This ability is scripted to target the person furthest away from him every time, so it's always going to be a caster/hunter. If you're not fighting him in his tent, this ability will most certainly knock that person off of Thunder Bluff and kill them from falling damage - this is why you are fighting him inside his tent.
The melee group will be taking constant damage so healers will need to be prepared with mana potions - never take fewer healers than you need. If something goes wrong it can be a long fight for an undergeared group. Casters should heal themselves after each wave of guards or a beserker charge as healers will need to be concentrating on the tank and melee group. If all goes well, Cairne will die and you'll have that much more honor and gold! Have fun and try some other city leaders!

I don't know, but shouldn't have the strength of Sylvanis and Valthramas/ Thrall and Vol'jin combined because:
1. Hes a tauren
2. He is alone
3. He uses a giant log as a weapon.

The bosses are basically identically to players except they have massive amount of HP.
That being said, the bosses have different "true levels"
Here are the list of faction bosses:
Alliance:
Highlord Bolvar, aka I didn't see a giant dragon standing five feet away from me, Fordragon----at stormwind keep
Archbishop, aka I have a basement inviting any horde warlock to summon raid me, Benedictus------at stormwind cathedal
King Magni, aka I need you to kill my son in law, Bronzebeard-----at ironforge highseat
High Tinker, aka no nobody know I exist, Mekkar------at ironforge Tinkertown
Archdruid Faugon, need anger management, Staghelm------at top of Cenarion Conclave at darnassus
Priestess Tyrande, aka husband missing for ten thousand years, Whisperwind---at temple of moon at Darnasus
Lady Jaina, aka I love green (Thrall) more than blond (Arthas), Proudmoore----at top of the Theramore central keep
Horde:
Lady Sylvanas, aka I am the queen of Zerg..er forsaken, Windrunner----at Undercity Royal Chamber
Majordomo, aka I can fly before the beer gut, Varimathas----at Undercity Royal Chamber
Warchief, aka I didn't ninja this platemail, Thrall---at Orgrimmar valley of wisdom
(Don't know his title) Vol`jin, aka I like to stand and chill while alliance raiding Thrall --at orgrimmar valley of wisdom
Highchieftain Cairne, aka I die three times a day at Warcraft III, Bloodhoof---highchieftian's tent at Thunderbuff
That being said, i think the easiest boss to take down will in fact be Archbishop Benedictus. Since there is a basement right beside him which is perfect for horde's summon sneak attack. The archdruid, Tyrande and Jaina are all standing at pretty cramped places, so they are a bit harder.
Sylvanas and varimathas are standing together. Thrall and Vol'jin is standing together. But no raid is really stupid enough to take two bosses on at the same time. They will simply pull one out.
Again, all bosses are acting as players in term of damage, which means they can outlevel you by 10000 level, but you will still be able to hit them.
According to the World of Warcraft Strategy guide, all the bosses are in fact level 63 with exception of Bolvar, Varimathas and Tyrande. (Don't flame me if I remembered wrong.)
varimathas, level 100---probably why no one has tried to mess with him yet. As far as we know, he could have kicked Ragnaros' ass by himself if he tried.
Tyrande Wisperwind, level 75----sigh...poor darnassus, with max population of 5 people at peak hour. Though I did hear quite a few raid wipe from her by the starfall.
Highland Bolvar Fordragon, level 90---if you are alliance come to Stormwind three times a day and watch he kill 7 level 62 Onixya's elite guards by himself and have 80% health left. It has been confirmed by my own eye that he does indeed use divine shield...multiple times in a 10 minute. As far as I know, he is the only boss that will heal himself to full health.
The rest are the bits of information I had with how these bosses fight.
Alliance:
Highlord Bolvar Fordragon----A combination of warrior and paladin, divine shield + cleave + laying of hand? (heal himself to full, but didn't see his mana go down. I want his talent spec!) Summon stormwind guards.
Archbishop benedictus------so far i heard is that he bashes you with his staff and cast holy nova.
King Magni Bronzebeard-----Avatar from Warcraft III. Don't become immune to magic though.
High Tinker Mekkar------no fight heard
Archdruid Faugon Staghelm------been took down a few times, but I don't have any information on him.
Priestess Tyrande Whisperwind---only know she cast starfall sometimes. Summoning darnassus sentienal.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore----Massive AoE at very cramped tower and she will teleport your maintank outside theramore. (Imagining Jaina with a baseball bat and yell "Home Run!") Summoning theramore guard.
Horde:
Lady Sylvanas Windrunner----Shooting arrow with a lot of damage, melee with a sword and teleport around. Summon skeleton guards.
Majordomo Varimathas----no fight recorded
Warchief Thrall---Only saw him fight at distance from the alliance most wanted video. Summon Orgrimar grunts. (He is a platemailed shaman. i don't know whether he cast shocks or not)
Vol`jin-----no fight recorded
Highchieftain Cairne Bloodhoof---Same old Cairne from warcraft III. No rebirth though and the weapon is a giant totem instead of a halberd now.
k, hopefully these information helps.

the reason why horde have never killed a alliance boss is because there are too many high lvl ppl running around in all their main cities. the only way the alliance could have ever killed one of the horde's bosses is in thunder bluff which is only populated with low lvl guys since there is no zeppelin, easy way of getting there, and no special trainers.

Whille ally attack Cairne some hordes should attack an ally boss. Simple and easy. Or just go TB and kill the ally and get lots of honor :-)
And allies who not have a horde char that reads this is just a sucker.

In bg I hear from people that are allies that horde always wins. Here I see the majority of people saying that allies kill more bosses.
Is it that allies try to kill more peole out of BG than Horde do?
This is seriously not just being rude. I just wonder.

Angry Aces downed him today after a Gruul raid, he has alot of HP, does a Mortal Strike, a thunderclap, and randomly charges people and hits them in the air.
I suggest tanking him his hut to try and minimise guard spawns, and remember, you need to take him fast because word spreads fast about an alliance raid in TB and orgrimmar isn't faraway, at about 10%, there were about 10 L70 horde their but we managed to take him down
Also, having two tanks here is useful, have MT tank cairne at one side of his hut, and the group stand at the opposite end, when he does a random charge, have an OT placed where the healers and ranged are standing to taunt him back to the MT. And the guards are nasty, try aoe them down fast as they do a short stun attack that can make healers lifes a misery
Edit - He dropped 91G for us, didn't look in my log if there was any honor gain or reputation gain

Good job Cairne! Keep them out of TB!

Attacking an Ally leader during an attack on a horde leader is not quite as effective as you think. While it is generally considered true that Alliance sucks at man for man PvP, there are those guilds and individuals in Ally that can stand toe to toe against their Horde counterparts, racials kept in mind and all.
However, that's on equal basis... World PvP is anything but. On any given day, the Alliance hold a population advantage of 3 or more active toons to ever 2 Horde. Many roaming the streets of Stormwind and Ironforge. Horde players have raided Darnassus easily enough due to the lack of popularity of the city as a general place to hang out. Stormwind and Ironforge... most hunters HAVE to turn off their humanoid tracking to get anywhere in those cities. A horde mage can hardly step anywhere in either one without Arcane Exploding a lvl 10 ally into next week... or being picked out by a high end rogue who feels he has nothing better to do.
And so the question you ask yourself is this... to attack SW or IF while an Ally raid is off in TB, Orgrimmar or UC... just how big a difference is that lack of 40 Allies gonna make on the defense capabilities of either IF or SW? The numbers involved in BGs are the stats, but the numbers that factor most in World PvP is population, and that there has the Horde defeated... because many new players consider them "ugly" races or don't have TBC.
