Plugger drops the elusive Barman Shanker. IF you're a rogue, he's not too difficult to solo. Arm yourself with some shadow prot pots, stealth into the bar, buy some Beer and use it to lure the patrons near him back to where the Thorium Brotherhood NPC is. Once the NPCs are clear, if the bar isn't KOS, pickpocket plugger. Once you can attack him, wait till he pats to the side of the platform nearest the TB NPC and go to town.
Mind numbing poisons help.

To elaborate:
Grab some greater shadow prot pots and head down. Really regardless of gear (I did this at 58 in half greens) you should be able to take him down only chugging a single pot. If you're nervous, bring some major health pots, chug the shadow when you zone into the instance, so the cooldown is up for the regular pot.
Anyway, he is IMMUNE to mind numbing poison AND kick, as well as stuns and all that goodness. If you really want to poison it up, just put up an instant poison on your MH, anything else is really overkill (or useless.)
Buy four DI ales and go near the Thorium Brotherhood NPC and throw one in the corner, where his small crevace meets the rest of the bar. Do it again, then throw the remaining two ales a little further down, closer to the table, being careful not to be too close to plugger. Once all four cronies are down, the bar should still be neutral, plugger too.
As long as you're on the inside side of the table you shouldn't get other aggro, so no real need to wait for him to path. The focus of this fight is straight up DPS - open with a garrote and mash your SS/evis button, don't waste energy on kicks since they don't work. If you take heavy melee damage, you can time it well - he will only melee multiple times in a row once he lands a spell, so wait until you're done resisting shadowbolts and immolates and go to town with your evasions and GSes. Collect loots, reset instance, rinse and repeat.
It's nice to note, too, that even though his dagger doesn't like to drop all to often, the chestpiece isn't all that bad for a rogue.

If you have a level 60 rogue to help you kill plugger, this can be done as early as level 49.
I am level 49 with 5/5 MOD and Nightscape Boots (increase stealth level) and can stealth all the way to Plugger.
Mind you this is not an easy task and does require you to use two vanishes and 1 sprint.
Have the 60 rogue open the doors and unlock the gear. Your first chokepoint will be when you start down the short hall that has 4 dwarfs standing at the beginning and a roaming Fire elemental. Either you or the 60 distract the two dwarfs on the left, making them face the right, and slip by, being sure to hug the wall. You will be able to stand between the first 4 dwarfs and the next set of mobs that also has a Fire elemental in it. Wait for the fire elemental pat. If the 60 rogue did not use distract have him use distract on the Fire Elemental pat to slip past. If this goes sour just run further ahead and vanish. This will increase your stealth enough to slip past everything and stand on the stairs leading down to the right in the next room. The room you should be facing now is the one with the gnomes and Golems. If you want to play it really safe just wait for your vanish to finish it's cooldown, once it is ready watch the pats of the gnomes and stealth through the center straight ahead. Stop right before entering the next room and make a right, being sure to hug the wall. The next and last part you are coming upon has 4 fire elementals. You will not be able to slip past these without a sprint and vanish so make sure both of those are not on cooldown. Now just start stealthing through, as soon as you are unstealthed sprint. Once you reach the room with all the neutral people just vanish. You are now in the room with Plugger. Congrats and good luck with our Barman Shanker. Follow the previous instructions on killing Plugger posted by the previous guys. They work.

Pickpocketing Plugger will cause him and the rest of the room to become aggroable. Killing him will cause the rest of the room to become aggroable also.

If you want to take this guy out in a group i reccomend clearing out the entire bar.
Attacking NPC's in the bar will olny agro a few NPC's close by and nobody else. Using this method you can steadly and safely (Although sometimes slowly) work your way to plugger.
Take note that as soon as you engage Plugger the ENTIRE bar becomes hostile.
I do recomend not just clearing the top of the bar because If you wipe later on (A distint possiblily considering the room before EMP) you'll need to clear them to get back anyway.
Most groups prefer to just skip this guy anyhow but if not I recomend a full bar clear.

If you have the Shadowforge Key, a 70 can sneak through to the East Garrison, unlock the doors, (watch for pats, if you're quick you won't have to kill a thing) cross the hall to the West Garrison, kill the Fireguard pat, the 4xAnvilrage pack (pray you don't get 4 Marshals), and the Fireguard/2xAnvilrage pack (rogues can probably skip all this), sneak your way through the Manufactory, kill the 4 Fireguards guarding the bar door, walk up to the barkeep, blow him away (the only immediate aggro should be the 4 guys chilling right by him, everyone else in the bar should stay put and turn red), loot up.
As for your getaway, throw on a Parachute Cloak (or Slowfall), take a leap of faith off the upper level of the bar (with a little care and luck you can fly right past every angry mob), backtrack to the hallway between the Garrisons, Parachute/Slowfall out the window onto the Dark Iron Highway, (sure, you could just backtrack the entire path you took getting in but where's the fun in that?) book it to the front door, you're done. Reset instance if need be. Or just remove your gear and Leeroy yourself to death and ghost back.
If you're not an engineer and/or mage, your getaway is either (a) Hearthstone or (b) hilarious.
That's as quickly as I found I could trim it down (as a 70 SL/SL lock). Other classes may have other tricks up their sleeve. I was hunting for the XL Cables recipe, dropped on my 5th run. Happy hunting!

We passed all the drunk people and stared at the ugly face of the man we all wanted to kill
called em "plugger Spazzring" but he had something every rogue needs...
barman shanker...
"hello kind plugger do you happen to have any broken bottles on you?"
that was the code word he knew from heart bc he heard it oh so many times...
the plugger turned around slowly and before we could do anything he sliced the mans head off who was talking to him!
"damn you plugger" screamed I.
"You'll never get my precious Barman Shanker!"
screamed plugger.
with that he blasted another one of are party members with one of his attacks! bones flew up in the air and the wind crackled!
"DIE PLUGGER!"
I grabbed my pitiful Lifeforce Dirk and fought him with his barman shanker...
the battle lasted 3 weeks and 4 days...
"plugger...give..up..dammit" I sighed
"Never! this dagger is worth more than you can imagine" yelled plugger!
"Ugh!" I cried.
I quickly used kidney shot and a quit backstab then finished him off with a rupture that way his death would be long and painful...
"I spent years making it so finely tuned *cough* and yet here I am lying in my own blood giving you the dagger..that I..ma-ma-ugh..." With one last gush of blood plugger dozed off into his eternal sleep.
The drunk barmen just stared...and when it was all over they're eyes got all red because they knew they'd never be able to get drunk again...
They started approaching me with their weapons out and ready without thinking I threw a flash powder and ran...I was never to see the bar again...but I did have a nice souveneir...

Nikiyaki,
Yes, you should kill the four patrons that are standing nearest plugger. I find it normally takes me 5 mugs because my third one almost always gets a dwarf from the table opposite Plugger. Conveniently there are 5 mugs on the table which you can feel free to pick up AFTER you kill Plugger. I kill all the patrons on the other side of the table that has only a pig on it, near Lothos Darkbringer.
14 runs so far, no Shanker, no deaths. Statistically right on target for number of Mixologist Tunics, abnormally high number of Schematic: Goblin Jumper Cables XL.
FWIW I don't use Shadow Protection potions because I don't have a convenient source for them ("AH" is not convenient for cheapskates like me who don't want to pay the price typically asked for buyout.) I'm a subtlety/assination rogue too so I don't have any special damage tricks from the Combat tree. Most kills go something like Ambush / Dodge / SS spam / CB evis / Prep / Dodge / SS spam / CB evis / whatever to finish him off. The cooldown on Prep will be ending just a little before you've cleared his patrons on the next run. I have Mind Numbing on main hand and Instant on off-hand, usually no other buffs except sometimes I pop a Dragonbreath Chili or remember to put on a food buff. Every fight I use a Whipper Root Tuber to heal, and sometimes a regular health potion if it is looking dicey.
Don't waste energy kicking him, it doesn't interrupt his spells. Also immune to gouge and blind.

A hunter that can FD run there or a rogue can do it no prob.
Get to the bar however.
Buy all the bear available.
Go into the little room on the bottem floor and put a beer in the back corner. They'll start to walk to it one at a time. Kill them before they reach the beer. Pretty easy and they wont fight back. If you kill one before they reach the beer and before the beer's timer is up another will start walking to it. Kill, wash rinse, etc. When they come from the top floor they'll come in single file lines of 4-8. Kill them all, or kill what you can and vanish/fd. Now, if they reach the bear they'll each be stunned for 5 seconds from the time they reach it. That buys you some time.
Anyways, after a few beers the upper level will be empty. Go up and slaughter the Spazzring. This right here should be the only threat of death you have. Buff up do your thing before hand and choose your poisons wisely.

1. You can lockpick all doors to plugger if you have 270 skill or better
2. You can exercise lockpicking perhaps up to 290 using this instance
3. You need at least 57 to turn the wheel without aggro (Again no key required if you fit the above). I watched the movie and its not very accurate mainly because the person that created it is lvl 60. You will get aggro from the left side and the right side even if you distract either side. Turning the wheel will break the distract effect and you will have to vanish.
The fire elemental patrol shouldnt be an issue otherwise takes ages to come back to you.
4. Numbing poison doesnt work also be prepared for something like a shadow stun ray (lasts 7-10 seconds) you cant move at that time obviously and he goes melee on you but no big deal you might want to consider a superior healing potion though.

All this soloing for the barman shanker is all well and good, but I'm no rogue and I can't stealth there. I'm a warlock engineer and I want the recipe for the XL cables to drop so I don't have to spend 30 gold for something I can get myself. Killing him in a group is easy as cake, and no one really objects to doing that. All I want to know is if there is any trick to getting out of there after you kill him. That is, besides the simple advice of good pulls and don't wipe after the whole bar turns red. My biggest difficulty is when they come to "investigate," its impossiple to pull less than 8 mobs at that point. Any suggestions?

60 Rogue but I wasn't able to consistently take him down until after I switched to sword spec... it's a big difference in damage output. I get him everytime and sometimes without a healing pot at all (~3500hp).
Pop a shadow resist potion (regular is fine)... grab some +hp food.. instant poisons (he is indeed immune to mind-numbing)... wait for 2min cooldown for health pot just in case.
Ambush (daggers), switch to swords, evasion, spam a couple SS, adrenaline rush/blade flurry... more SS/evis and he should go down in a bit. I haven't gotten my barman shanker yet but it's looking better now that I can kill him everytime. Too bad I'm sword spec now though. You can always respec.

For druids, plugger is much easier than for rogues.
Follow the directions in the posts above to get rid of the three adds, but since his melee does crap for damage, you should have no trouble dpsing him while keeping yourself healed. (his real dps comes from spells, but even those dont hurt very bad)
start out in cat for the opener, switch to bear afterward for the frenzied regen, caster to heal to full + hots, cat for dps. if you get low, caster again to heal.
healing and resist pots completely unnecessary.
(the mixologists tunic is one of the better catdpsing chest items before zg - its very decent for bear form as well, though the armor could be a bit higher)

I did much of the same as the rogues above. I am a 29/2/20 with mostly green armor but have Alcor's and Shadowblade. As a result of my crappy gear, my AP is only about 600 with some food and scroll buffs. I used a shadow resist pot (lesser one) and had instant and crippling poison. The first time I did it easily by buying the four mugs and killing the mobs around the bar. The second time I was a newb and took the mugs off the bar instead so he turned red after stealing the second mug. I still proceeded to kill him by distracting the two non-elites and ambushing him. I used SS/evis combo with a cold blood in there. I also used evasion when the two were no longer distracted. After I killed him, I vanished, healed in the corner and killed the two that were left. I didnt need healing pots either time. I'm going back for more, very fun!

just got his dagger for a rogue friend first try. after you kill the 4 mobs at the bar dont stand in the "closet" where the dark iron guy stands, you should go to the bar and fight him. we tried to stay in that "closet" and he ran back towards other bar peoples and we got killed. And dont waist your money on potions and all that crap, either befriend a druid or pay one, im a druid(feral spec) and i had no problem healing the rogue. and im sure you could pay a druid like 10g for an hour of running that place whihc would last longer than the money you spend on potions.

i soloed him (60 rogue)with only one greater fire resistance potion, dodge and cold blood. He isnt a simple fight and he hits damn hard with his shadow bolts.
WARNING: THIS GUIDE IS MADE FOR ROGUES ONLY
Method:
First you must clear the patrons. To do this buy some dark iron ale mugs from Plugger, then throw them to just infront of Lokthos Darkbringer. Once youve done that go stand where you threw it and target the patron coming towards you. He will drink the ale and become stunned, alloing you to attack and kill him. Do this for all 4 until Plugger is the last one standing.
Start with a BS/Mutilate or if you cant do one of those go for a Garrote. Click dodge about 5 seconds into the fight, then DPS with SS until you have 5 combo points. Then click cold blood and you should crit eviscerate him. That should take a big chunk (1/4) of his health. From then on spam SS and Evis until his body is lying infront of you and you have some very shiny and well earned loot!
P.S. (advised you use a shadow resist pot instead of fire one, i used fire coz i had no shadow, also once you have used the pot wait where you are, away from plugger, for the CD so you can use a health pot during combat if needed)

About 15 runs so far, me a 67 rogue and my friend level 50 rogue with 5/5 Master of Deception. Both of us have imp sap. No shanker yet; so far there have been 5 Mixologists Tunic, 3 jumper cables, and the rest were all .
However we did get a great system down to run Plugger over and over.
Some pointers if you want to stealth run and bring a level 50 rogue along with you:
-The
only
mobs you will
need
to kill besides Plugger are the Fire Guard pats on the way there. They are easy kills, so get used to their routes and solo them in clear areas just to be safe. Some of them are avoidable but if you just take them all out you don't have to worry about them on the way back out after.
-When you get to the part where there are 4 Dwarves, 2 on each side of the tight hallway right after you cross the covered bridge and turn left. sap the farther one on the left hand side and THEN have your friend sap the closer one, hugging the left wall and coming up behind him.
-Right after that group, angle over and hug the right wall TIGHTLY to go behind the group of 3 at the corner. Friend should have vanish up for this part at level 50 as it's a
really
tight spot to stealth and he might need to use it.
-Play Frogger in the next area, be really careful and imp sap where needed to protect your friend. Even though they are non-elites, they are around level 55 and a stealthed 50 rogue will turn a few heads in there.
-Safe spot after the gnomes/big stone guys, in the hallway, right before the 4 fire guards. The part of the hallway that is the lightest is a good place to wait for cooldowns.
-For the 4 fire guards before Plugger, it's possible to take them out but we seem to have better luck doing this: Take aggro on all 4 guards while running in, have your friend follow close behind (but not too close) unstealthed
as soon as you take aggro on the first 2 guards.
Both of you pop vanish once in the room with all the patrons to get rid of them.
-Plugger is the easiest part. Have your friend wait in the back room where the sand bags and Thorium Brotherhood guy are. Kick Pluggers ass, loot your crap green item and then do the whole thing over again. I don't bother luring the dwarves away, even at level 66 with no poisons on it's easy to take out plugger. I use premed>shadowstep>garrote>evasion to start the fight and after that he comes down quick. If your vanish is up again just loot plugger quickly then vanish so you don't have to waste time fighting his 4 buddies.
Other than all that, follow the routes/directions outlined in above posts, be smart and make sure your friend watches his step closely as there are
MANY
tight spots in there, but all very possible even at level 50 with 5/5 MoD.
Good luck!

Dense Sharpening Stone
on both my daggers (since he is apparently immune to poisons). Then I ate something that gave me a +15 to Stamina for being well fed.
Then once I got to him I did the following:
Drink
Elixir of the Mongoose
Drink
Greater Shadow Protection Potion
Hit Stealth (and got behind him)
Hit Cold Blood then Ambush
I opened the attack with a >1,000 crit!
and from there just the usual SinStrike, Evis, SliceDice, Rupture.
Toward the end I used Evasion too.
All the other times I died pretty quickly this time however I had about 1/3 to 1/2 of my health left (I started with about 3850 after buffs)! Then do you want to know what he dropped?
Mystical Mantle of the Whale
. Ughh! I would hate to know how much gold I have lost trying to kill him. I think one key to beating him is to do everything you can to get your health as high as you can. Well, there's my experience. Good Luck with your own!

I attacked him- just to test things out, really- with no poisons and one normal healing potion (700-900 health). To my surprise, I beat him, but it was close. I would have died had I not resisted his last 3 spells... Definitely recommend a shadow resist potion, a good health potion and, of course, poisons. Other than that, levels 60+ shouldn't have much of a problem soloing him... just kill the guys near him first.
I even forgot to use slice and dice, just evicerated until he died.

Plugger stands on a narrow platform at the west end of the second level of the BRD bar (the Grim Guzzler, go up the ramp on the right from the first level), with his four buddies on the floor next to him. You can pull them a short distance to the back room where the quest NPC stands (can't remember his name but he gives rewards for one faction or another, if I remember right) and kill them without getting adds.
Unfortunately attacking Plugger will make the whole bar hostile to you. This is really, really bad because once you get into aggro range of one of the other patrons the WHOLE bar will aggro on you! Yeah, Blizzard had to make it extra, extra hard for rogues to get one of the few blue level 50+ daggers in the game (the tunic isn't bad either). It's times like this that I remember why I don't play EQ anymore, but I digress...
I suggest that if you're in a PUG you do Plugger last and then hearth out, much as many people do with Lord Incendius.
Note that if you don't attack Plugger you can sell your vendor loot to him.
Someone below said something about buying ales from him and using them on Plugger's buddies. I noticed last time I was in the bar that the ales are sitting on top of a table by Plugger's platform but I haven't tried using them yet so I'm not sure how that works.
Edit:
Ok, I figured out how the ales thing works.
First, DON'T touch the ales on the table, doing so will immediately turn the bar hostile to you! (You can safely loot them after Spazzring is dead).
Second, Spazzring sells ale, but only 10 of them. If you purchase the ales you can right click on them to place one on the ground near the Thorium Brotherhood questgiver. This will cause one of the non elite dwarves around Spazzring to run over, drink it, and become stunned. Now you gank him. Too easy. Repeat 3 more times to take care of all 4 non elites. You need to be a bit careful with the ale placement -if it's too close to Spazzring he'll aggro, and if it's too far from his buddies you might pull one of the bar patrons from the nearest table over instead. But that's ok because you have extras.
Now it's just you and Spazzring. Unfortunately I found him impossible to solo because he's immune to stuns (blind, gouge, kidney shot and cheap shot), mind numbing poison and kick. As a subtletly rogue I can't use the gouge / backstab combo, which puts a big dent in my damage output. Also, at level 55 (and three times I checked he was always 55, regardless of what it says above) he has over 10 000 HPs. Basically, he's going to drop one massive nuke on you after another and there's nothing you can do about it. Don't bother with a regular shadow resist potion, it's a drop in the bucket next to the damage he dishes. Haven't tried a greater shadow resist (if you've seen the prices on the AH you'll know why -that's a cost that can quickly become ruinous when the item you're after only drops 7% of the time).
If you have a LOT of shadow and fire resistance maybe you can pull this off, all I can tell you is that with 40 shadow resist I don't think even one of nukes was resisted.
It seems to me that Blizzard originally intended this as a rogue pseudo quest (sneaking into BRD and killing Spazzring solo) but nerfing stuns on him makes this MUCH less feasible.

Does he SELL the patern for the Black dragonscale breastplate? Do you have to have any rep or anything ? I went once to him and don't recall seeing it or having it drop so?

To get to the bar... (NOTE: Shadowforge key required!)
1) Enter
2) Go left, unlock the door, then go right there, unlock the door, then go left, and unlock that door.
3) Stealth to the Shadowforge lock and unlock it. It can be done by a 60 easily, and by a 58+ with clever sapping, timing, and posistioning.
4) Go up the stairs, go right there. Follow the corridor.
5) When you find the two stairs down, go to the one on your right into a factory looking place.
6) Go to right outside the boss room in the factory, then turn right.
7) Stealth through the right section of the factory and accross the bridge. The bridge looks a LOT harder than it is, anyone 57+ should have no trouble, and lower than that will have to be careful.
8) Go up to plugger Spazzrig and buy a dark iron ale from him (buy 6 more if you're looking to do Attunement also).
9) Placeone of the ales just within the range of where it shows up as a bottle on the ground. This will stun a patron for 10 seconds.
10) You and your partner each sap one patron, then attack Plugger quick, as when the patron who drank the ale recovers, he will be enraged.
11)Kill Plugger. Mind-numbing poison works great, and if you have a druid, this is very easy.

He's immune to mind-numbing poison now. I brought along a couple greater shadow prot pot and major health pots. Solo'd him easily and got the Shanker on the 3rd try. Fun stuff :)

Don't touch the ale mugs. I figured this out on my first run through. We got there and i picked up a mug them i started getting shadow bolted by plugger. We didn't know what happened just that the whole bar had turned hostile. After we almost wiped (I don't know why i wasn't attacked.) we just decided to call it. Looked it up and found out picking up the mugs will make the bar hostile.

If you take a mole machine to the Grim Guzzler, when the instance resets, you'll still be in the Grim Guzzler.
I've been killing Plugger, logging off in the room behind him with the Dark Iron reputation guy, and logging back on hours later to find myself in the Corin Direbrew room with the instance reset ready to kill Plugger again.
