Abilities Earned While Leveling from 50 to 60 in Shadowlands
The Level Squish necessitated a reassigning of the Levels at which each Ability is learned. Inevitably some of those fell beyond the maximum Level for Battle for Azeroth. These are the Abilities that Paladins will gain access to as they level through Shadowlands.

Blizzard's Paladin Patch Notes
Blizzard has released Patch Notes including the class changes for Shadowlands. The following is the class change summary for Paladins.
Hand of Reckoning is now learned at level 9. (was 14).
Lay on Hands is now learned at level 14 (was 9).
Holy
Light of Dawn healing has been increased by 25%.
Divine Favor now reduces the cast time of Holy Light and Flash of Light by 60% but no longer reduces their mana cost.
Retribution
Vengeance Aura’s range has been increased to 40 yards (was 20 yards).
Luminescence now heals up to 5 allies, preferring injured targets (was all allies). Additionally, the range of this ability has been increased to 40 yards (was 20 yards).
Classes: Paladin
General
The Aura bar has returned, containing Crusader Aura, Devotion Aura, and Retribution Aura. All auras have a 40 yard range, and one can be active at a time.
Avenging Wrath and Holy Avenger no longer have a global cooldown.
All Paladins can now use the following abilities:
New Ability: Turn Evil – The power of the Light compels an Undead, Aberration, or Demon target to flee for up to 40 seconds. Damage may break the effect. Only one target can be turned at a time.
Crusader Aura – Increases mounted speed by 20% for all party and raid members with 40 yards.
Devotion Aura – Party and raid members within 40 yards are bolstered by their devotion, reducing damage taken by 3%.
Retribution Aura – When any party or raid member within 40 yards dies, you gain Avenging Wrath for 8 seconds.
Word of Glory – Calls down the Light to heal a friendly target. Costs 3 Holy Power.
Shield of the Righteous – Slams enemies in front of you with your shield, causing Holy damage and increasing your Armor for 4.5 seconds. No longer limited by charges, costs 3 Holy Power.
Crusader Strike – Strike the target for Physical damage. Generates 1 Holy Power and costs 14% of base mana.
Hammer of Wrath – Hurls a divine hammer that strikes an enemy for Holy damage. Only usable on enemies that have less than 20% health or during Avenging Wrath. Now generates 1 Holy Power.
Consecration – Consecrates the land beneath you, causing Holy damage over 12 seconds to enemies who enter the area. Limit 1.
Blessing of Sacrifice – Blesses a party or raid member, reducing their damage taken by 30%, but you suffer 75% of damage prevented. Last 12 seconds, or until transferred damage would cause you to fall below 20% health.
Holy
Holy Paladins now use Holy Power as a resource.
Holy Shock now generates 1 Holy Power and its cooldown has been reduced to 7.5 seconds (was 9 seconds).
Beacon of Light no longer refunds mana; casting Flash of Light or Holy Light on your Beacon of Light grants 1 Holy Power. Additionally, the Beacon of Light will be healed for 50% of the amount healed (was 40%).
Light of Dawn now costs 3 Holy Power and has no cooldown.
Avenging Crusader (Talent) no longer has a global cooldown.
Infusion of Light now reduces the cost of Flash of Light by 30% or increases healing of Holy Light by 30%.
Aura Mastery now empowers your chosen aura for 8 seconds:
Devotion Aura: Reduced damage taken increased from 3% to 15%.
Crusader Aura: Mounted speed increased from 20% to 60%.
Retribution Aura: Duration increased by 50%.
The following Talents have been adjusted:
New Talent: Saved by the Light – When an ally with your Beacon of Light is damaged below 30% health, they gain an absorb shield. You cannot shield the same person this way twice within 1 minute.
New Talent: Seraphim – The Light magnifies your power for 15 seconds, granting 8% Haste, Critical Strike, and Versatility, and Mastery increased by 12%.
New Talent: Glimmer of Light – Holy Shock leaves a Glimmer of Light on the target for 30 seconds. When you Holy Shock, all targets with Glimmer of Light are damaged or healed. You may have Glimmer of Light on up to 8 targets.
Holy Avenger has been redesigned – Your Holy Power generation is tripled for 20 seconds.
Divine Purpose has been redesigned – Holy Power abilities have a 15% chance to make your next Holy Power ability free and deal 20% increased damage and healing.
Fist of Justice has been redesigned – Each Holy Power spent reduces the remaining cooldown on Hammer of Justice by 2 seconds.
Awakening now also procs from Word of Glory.
Bestow Faith now generates 1 Holy Power.
Protection
Protection Paladins now use Holy Power as a resource.
New Passive: Shining Light – Every 5 Shield of the Righteous make your next Word of Glory cost 0 Holy Power.
Avenger’s Shield no longer increases the effects of your next Shield of the Righteous and now generates 1 Holy Power.
Judgment now causes the target to take 25% increased damage from your next Holy Power ability and generates 1 Holy Power.
Hammer of the Righteous now generates 1 Holy Power.
Consecration reduces the Protection Paladins' damage taken by 5% while they stand inside their Consecration, in addition to any bonus added by Mastery.
Light of the Protector has been removed.
Word of Glory now has an additional effect: When you cast Word of Glory on yourself, it is increased by up to 150% based on your missing health.
The following Talents have been adjusted:
New Talent: Divine Purpose – Holy Power abilities have a 15% chance to make your next Holy Power ability free and deal 20% increased damage and healing.
New Talent: Holy Avenger – Your Holy Power generation is tripled for 20 seconds.
New Talent: Sanctified Wrath (replaces Last Defender) – Avenging Wrath lasts 25% longer and causes Judgment to generate 2 Holy Power.
New Talent: Moment of Glory (replaces Bastion of Light) – Reset the cooldown of Avenger's Shield. Your next 3 Avenger's Shields have no cooldown and deal 20% additional damage.
Fist of Justice has been redesigned – Each Holy Power spent reduces the remaining cooldown on Hammer of Justice by 2 seconds.
Redoubt has been redesigned – Shield of the Righteous increases your Strength and Stamina by 2% for 10 seconds, stacking up to 3.
Blessed Hammer now has a 6 second recharge (was 4.5 seconds), generates 1 Holy Power, and reduces the enemies next damage they deal to you.
First Avenger has been redesigned – Avenger's Shield hits 2 additional targets, and grants you an absorb shield for 100% of all damage it deals.
Hand of the Protector now increases Word of Glory's healing by the target's missing health, on any target.
Final Stand is now an area trigger that taunts all targets for 8 seconds, instead of a one-time taunt.
Righteous Protector now reduces the remaining cooldown of Avenging Wrath and Guardian of the Kings by 1 second with each Holy Power spent.
Retribution
Wake of Ashes is no longer a Talent and is learned by all Retribution Paladins at level 34. Wake of Ashes damage increased 50%, now deals reduced damage on secondary targets, and generates 3 Holy Power (was 5).
Blade of Justice cooldown is now 12 seconds (was 10.5 seconds).
Crusade (Talent) no longer has a global cooldown.
Greater Blessing of Kings and Greater Blessing of Wisdom have been removed.
Divine Storm now capped at 5 targets.
The following Talents have been adjusted:
New Talent: Empyrean Power (replaces Hammer of Wrath) – Crusader Strike has a 15% chance to make your next Divine Storm free and deal 25% additional damage.
New Talent: Healing Hands (replaces Word of Glory) – The cooldown of Lay on Hands is reduced up to 60%, based on the target's missing health. Word of Glory's healing is increased by up to 100%, based on the target's missing health.
New Talent: Seraphim (replaces Wake of Ashes) – The Light magnifies your power for 15 seconds, granting 8% Haste, Critical Strike, and Versatility, and Mastery increased by 13%.
New Talent: Holy Avenger (replaces Consecration) – Your Holy Power generation is tripled for 20 seconds.
New Talent: Sanctified Wrath – Avenging Wrath lasts 25% longer. During Avenging Wrath, each Holy Power spent causes you to explode with Holy light damage to nearby enemies.
New Talent: Final Reckoning (replaces Inquisition) – Call down a blast of heavenly energy, dealing Holy damage to all targets in the target area and causing them to take 50% increased damage from your Holy Power abilities for 8 seconds. Passive: While off cooldown, your attacks have a high chance to call down a bolt that deals Holy damage and causes the target to take 10% increased damage from your next Holy Power ability.
Execution Sentence has been redesigned – A hammer slowly falls from the sky upon the target. After 8 seconds, they suffer Holy damage, plus 20% of damage taken from your abilities in that time.
Divine Judgment has been removed.
PvP Talent changes:
New PvP Talent: Aura of Reckoning – When you or allies within your Aura are critically struck, you gain Reckoning. At 50 stacks of Reckoning, your next weapon swing deals 200% increased damage. In addition, it activates Avenging Wrath for 6 seconds.
Vengeance Aura now functions on crowd control that strikes all allies within 20 yards, rather than allies within 40 yards that have your Greater Blessings.
Hammer of Reckoning has been removed.

–Moved some mitigation from

. This improves mitigation outside of

and makes damage less swingy.
–Replaced Shining Light with

(similar mechanic that existed in Warlords–
正义盾击
gives a stacking self-healing increase to Word of Glory). The role of the passive is the same–give Word of Glory a rotational cadence that gives it a clearly “better” time to use.

Blizzard
In an upcoming build, Blessing of the Seasons is reworked to be a single-target buff, instead of being party-based. This is both more in keeping with modern abilities called “Blessings”, and also avoids a lot of balance-related problems that people were seeing on alpha. For example, the damaging Blessings will now be more effective when used solo, not only in group play. All four of the effects have their values increased to go along with this change (caveat that tuning is still quite preliminary). The changes mentioned last week—where multiple Paladins in a group are locked together, and give a hidden increase in strength to the Blessings—are no longer necessary and are reverted.

Avenger's shield will now conveniently start you with some HP when pulling packs of multiple enemies. Finally, with all this added Holy Power, we had to pull some back out of the rotation, and chose to do that on

, since it currently serves a separate important purpose with the

mechanic.
A few ancillary changes to this are increasing the duration of

generate 2 HP (so

still gives 2 in total while it is active).

Some people have seen, but, a few things not clear on

from tooltips alone: the party is only in one Season at a time (whichever you've cast most recently). So you are not simply pressing a button every 15 seconds to maintain 4 buffs. You can let each season last anywhere from 15-60s. Assuming you have a favored buff based on role/context, that you want to keep for 60s, it's more like 4 presses every 2 minutes, but you might vary that based on planning ahead to have certain buffs at certain times.

was pretty recently iterated upon, and its tuning might be pretty far off. Increasing value or reducing cooldown could both be options there, although increasing value might be preferable because the visual is so enormous. Also, a long cooldown is better contrast to the other

options.

is uncomfortable, we agree. Candidly, one reason it's hard to address is that there's probably a split among people thinking one or the other would be cooler to keep.

: This is an example (with respect to Ret and Holy) of something there hasn't been much of in the past two expansions or so. A button mainly intended for another spec, that is given to the class while leveling, that you don't have a strictly clear max-level use for. You certainly can use it, and one can imagine situations where you would. But if you don't, or don't put it on your bar, that's fine. Our current thinking is that instead of taking it away when you choose your specialization, we can just … not. We are discussing the UI that lights up buttons you don't have on your bar, for cases like this.

crood is being sarcastic , Rets are really mid-bottom of the pack and brings nothing to raids/dungeons . 2700 rio score Ret here and i can barely get an inv for +20 , and watching these changes oh my...........rets are gonna be downgraded to unplayable spec .

So every spec gets Holy Shock now and Holy Power has made a return for all specs as well? Alright I'm down. Even though increasing Avenging Wrath's CD to 3 mins seems rough, the boost to Beacon of Virtue should give us some better power in mythic plus as well as the convinience of making Holy Avenger line up with the CD of 3 mins. It looks like Holy Avenger only increases Holy Power generation this time around so I wonder that it's designed to be used as a burst AoE CD to spam Light of Dawn.
But lets talk about the big change, they reversed Infusion of Light, which I think is awesome. I hated how it used to be all about mana management vs utility. Now it's risk reward vs speed. I am so far really liking these Holy changes and I love having more ranged attacks on Ret and Prot now with Holy Shock. Plus, Turn Undead is back so yeah, I'm pretty stoked.
Edit: after rereading it, I missed that Word of Glory is returning as a Holy Power spender, which is awesome and changes how Holy Avenger works again.

im loving the barriers for certain moves only usable by certain specs being broken down like auras blessing of kings and wisdom and the damage increase to wake of ashes because it is a 45 second cooldown after all and crazy enough i wish after using it in the animation there was like black smoke simulating the ash after the flames just a thought but also love the increase to divine storm but i am kinda concerned on range still pvp wise vs mages and warlocks or pesky kiting hunters kinda wish divine storm when you get free proc from empyrean power the range was increased a bit and maybe we could get some of that judgment damage back really hate castors and maybe also you guys could consider changing the boring righteous verdict talent to final verdict like in warlords to add more flavor and class change up also i noticed out of all the finisher abilities like warrior execute and hunters kill shot or even now touch of death us rets have the weakest one i think to be fair while wings is active the damage is ok but where i start to have a problem is when their at 20% health i would like the damage boosted maybe to even double or 30% increase back in the day people were genuinely scared of hammer now with a 8 second cooldown at its strongest with wings youll be lucky to get a nice amount of damage off and i know im rambling at this point but just tryna lay ideas out there over all paladins are looking way better than bfa omost even at this point legion you guys brought back so much flavor with auras buffs of kings and wisdom for all specs hammer back baseline thank god because it was too weak and useless as just a talent but ill leave you guys with this things to consider bringing back i dont care how you do it set trinket or pvp talents would like to see more mobility maybe like double freedom like we use to have baseline defensive wise i loved the legendary Aegisjalmur bracers that gave 200% shield of vengeance if you were takin down to 1 % health was really nice and offensive wise something i really really miss is a power that went with wake of ashes call ashes to dust which when we hit the targets we gained a extra 15 damage against them and the old effect that let them burn for 10 seconds but praying i get in alpha to give you guy real feedback about whhat in game feels like not just guessing :)

For all of you people griping about AW getting nerfed to 3 mins. It hasn't for endgame, it's a change to leveling because Blizzard wants us to get something "every level". Same with BoW, it starts off giving us one HP then as we level we get an aura or a rank 2 version of it to give us 2 holy power. It's all stated on the changes.

WoA 5 holy power -> 3 Holy power. RIP. I was so excited to have that spell baselined and now I see its a lesser version. It'll still be nice to have but Ill miss being able to easily step into the wings rotation if I was at 0 power. Just one less option for getting to full power, though now its not a waste if you WoA and have anything other than zero.
Also, anyone on alpha tested the mana cost on crusader's strike? They did add the mana cost, but I wonder if its actually meaningful or something ret can ignore and continue on as normal.

My wife played a Pld during cata when holy power was a thing and she said it's terrible. If it's how i think it's going to be, yep new tanking main for me, my pld can gather dust.

Please! Do not remove Divine Purpose! Ok if you all wished for holy power, but i dislike it and i don't want to be forced again to play with holy power, which i really hate as a healer! TBH i want the holy paladin to be like or prior 3.3.5 and not like cata pala.

Haven't played since Legion (except a bit on Classic), as I couldn't bring myself to pay for the game when they had my favorite class so horribly messed up.
Came here to see what changes were coming with Shadowlands and see this:

Guess I'm not renewing my sub any time soon. Maybe expansion after Shadowlands?

Holy Light no longer being a fast cast after a Holy Shock crit will make fake casting in arena extremly hard, at least we get something else for it, like the Saved by the Light talent and another insant cast heal

Good Evening Blizzard or I shall say now Activision!
I know you are super duper busy at the moment and loads of pressure on your shoulders with all this new expansion and all that but I have something on my soul and needed to say it out loud.
I was enjoying playing the Ret Paladin since Legion, had fun with that character, it's actually my favourite class.
Now, in BFA, this class is barely playable..No one takes us on a high M+ dungen (over 15) even the RIO is good, no one is playing with a ret in a high rated arena anymore, no one takes us in raids anymore, or sometimes the main reason why we are in there is just to buff the tank- healer with our blessings. Now, in this expansion, you took that one as well from us.. increased the CD on the Hammer of Wrath by 3 mins, mobility is 0, dispels/interrupts=1, damage inconsistent all the times even with the wings on, we are practically naked. Anyway, my question for you is this:
Why don't you remove the spec and buff more the DH, DK,Hunters,Monks and the Mages.
In this beautiful game, it should be some kind of balance between classes, right? Where is that?
I mean, the real game testers are us, the players..hopefully you'll see this topic and hopefully you will do something right this time.

I'm against the change to have Holy spec use Holy Power. Although I have been playing WoW since the beginning, skipping only Legion, I will say I have no experience using Holy Power as Holy Paladin. I guess my problem with it is its just one more thing to keep track of. I actually really enjoy my Holy Paladin the way it is in BFA. :D

Looks like I might shelf my Retribution Paladin main in Shadowlands. This goes to show you how disconnected Blizzard is to majority of the playerbase.
Ret in Shadowlands is going to be Enhance Shaman from the start of BFA in which they were desperately needing a rework. See y'all in 2-3 years.

Will we see any changes to changing weapon during fights or in m+(where you make a macro to equip a shield upon using SoTR)? I see huge potential with having SoTR as ret, where you spend HP to mitigate dmg instead of dealing it, much like Feint for Rogues. Say in m+ for instance, Ret could have huge potential!

Final Reckoning for Retribution basically gives you Thor's Odinforce from the new Marvel game? Ok, I'm 1000% down with that.
I can't wait to try the changes out on all three specs. Paladin is still the only class where I like playing every spec.
