The city of the Sha'tar, the Aldor and the Scryers.
As detailed in the map above the Aldor and the Scryers each control one piece of the city themselves, in these areas you as a player can obtain quests from one of the factions. Completing one quest for the Scyers will raise your reputation with the Scryers but simultaneously lower your reputation with the Aldor, and the other way around. Basically the Scryers are Blood Elfs sent by Illidan Stormrage, brother of Malfurion Stormrage, to attack the city of Shattrath, however when these Blood Elfs arrived they defected from Illidan's forces and sought residence within Shattrath City, this request was granted by the Sha'tar.
The Aldor and The Scryers are the only opposing factions in the city while the Sha'tar are neutral and are also situated in the central area of the city.
There is also special "treats" gained by befriending one faction over the other. The Aldor offers great Jewelcrafting recipes while the Scryers offers several Enchanting recipes. The Sha'tar, the Scryers and the Aldor also have NPC's who act as turn-ins for items regarding tier 4 equipment.
I have uploaded a preview video of the city on YouTube:
This is a "Sanctuary" zone, where everyone inside is friendly even on a PvP server.
This city contains Portals to each main city on Azeroth. So when you need to train your new spells, this is the fastest way besides mage portals.
It's a nice thing to set your hearthstone here, having all the portals etc.
I dont doubt most will set this as a hearth point, due to the aforementioned portals.
Anyone know where the auction house is located?
For some reason, demonic sacrifice (Warlock talent to sacrifice pet for buffs) doesn't work in Shatt either.
I have only been able to find one cooking fire so far. It is located at 43, 30 in the lower level.
If you are looking at the entrance to the Aldor bank from the lower level, look right. There are 3 NPCs around the campfire named: "Dirty" Larry, "Creepjack", and "Epic" Malone
There are now more places to cook with the inctroduction of the daily cooking quests:
Can someone please elaborate on choosing Aldor or Scycers (not sure of spelling) I'm confused as to which side to choose and why. Please help.
I've created a file, for those that do not want to alt-tab out of Warcraft for each quest (or can't in my case, with 512 MB of RAM) to our beloved wowhead.com. :)
This is basically a compilation of information off of Wowhead and the comments of posters. The quests are generally in order, but it may have a typo, mistake, or incorrect x, y locations, etc. Its not based on reputation, but is purely a leveling/quest grinding guide that I decided to do for myself and my brother. Right now, unfortunately, it is Alliance only based (I've got no level 60 Horde characters).
Some of the references in the file are to 'soloability'. This is totally class/talent/gear based, so I would not rely on it. However, if I comment on the soloability of a target, it probably means its elite or difficult.
The Series XX quests are to be completed in order.
If a quest is listed as 'Synch', it just means to watch out for the quests above or below the one that, as they can be very, very easily combined together or interact with each other.
I'm going to be posting this message/link in the comments section of the zones I have completed it for (right now its only Zangarmarsh, Terokkar, and Shattrath (Aldor/Scryers)). I'd appreciate any bumps in ratings, and also any questions, corrections, or feedback can be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Last but not least, you can use GoogleDocs to read the XLS file, if you don't have Microsoft Office. Or, just use Google to find a 'free XLS reader'.
The Three Major Factions are Scryer Aldor and Lower City.
Me being a Hunter have found Scryer and Aldor both sueless and am now only rlly trying for the Lower city rep to get the blue chest.
Only if Blizz had put a real Hunter useful piece of gear in Aldors or Scryers ...... Sigh...
I hate this place, you have no idea how many times i've died from being a split second late getting on those stupid elevators and falling down.
Lissaf in the Lower City is the only one who can repair in the whole of Shattrath
never mind... found answer
The portals are in the middle (Terrace of light) for those who dont know (that is me) : /
Forge/Anvil - Lower City, Loc (69, 43)
Fire - trade and professions area, Lower City, behind Viggz Shinesparked, Loc (64, 70)
Bonfire, Mailbox - near Nicole Bartlett's boarding house, Lower City, Loc (74, 49)
Bonfire, Mailbox - near the World's End Tavern, Lower City, Loc (75, 36)
Mailbox - Aldor Bank
Mailbox - Aldor Inn
Mailbox - Scryer Bank
Mailbox - Scryer Inn
In regards to cooking fires, the braziers, at least the ones on Aldor rise, can be used to cook as well.
If your hearthstone is on cooldown and you're in Orgrimmar, you could get invited to a group, drop group and you would be ported back to Shattrah City(assuming your hearth is set here)
Most likely the same thing would be able to work in Stormwind City with The Stockades.
whats the earliest level i can get here?
You can go to Shattrath at any level, if you are summoned by a Warlock or take a Mage's portal, but to go to Outland via the portal in Hellfire, you must be at least level 58. My suggestion is to pay for a portal or summon to Shattrath and make one of the inns your home so you can hearth back at any time to take the portals to the capital cities.
For those who don't know and have no direction sense (like me), the elevator can be found at 42, 38. This gets you to the top tier where the inns are.
Can't I fly to Shat? I mean, I can't seem to find any Flight Master in there. I pretty new to Outland and the only Flight Paths I have are Thrallmar and theone you get by the portal. I rode to Shat with my mage becuase I was curious about the place. Please enlighten me =)
Edit: Ye, I have another question: At which levels can mages teleport/portal to Shat?
Edit 2: I had missed that there was more then one page of NPC's in Shat, but now I've found him =)
if you've ever wondered why there is a bunch of skeletons in a certain few spots thats because people who dont have flying mounts dont want to wait for the elevator and jump off. Well dont do this unless you want to run back in the city to rez its really confusing to be able to see where your going as a ghost.
P.S. Jumping off isnt just foolish its also a time consuming process. If you land at an area that cannot be reached by foot and is too high for your ghost to reach you will be forced to use the spirit healer and have the annoying ressurection sickness.
SO how do you get to Outlands at level 58? The dark portal in Blasted Lands or is the portal in Silvermoon?
hmmmm it's a shame that blizz didnt put an AH in outland, but then again I suppose there wouldnt be anybody left in azeroth if they had...
and I think it's awesome that the city is a sanctuary zone, since you can inspect everyone, not just alliance and every1 is friendly, so there's no ganking if ppl go there to set their HS there like I did at lvl 1 :)
Shat FTW. as a mage i am constantly getting asked for ports here. with the fast growing need to get to many outlands places shatt is practically DEAD center or outlands...a little south but w/e
This place is even more important because it provides quick transportation to the isle of Quel' Danas. This place also hold many dalies giving you
shatterd sun supplies
wich have a chance of having a
in them. therefore on many serrvers they are called Badge dalies.
if you are just starting here and you are not a drani or blood elf (they are automaticly aldor/scryer) i would recomend scryers until you find out what you need. the 2 factions are verry important in chosing...but dont worry. you can swich factions by doing multiple
Dampscale basilisk eyes
to obtain scryer rep if you are aldor and
Dreadfang venom sacs
if you are scryer looking to get aldor rep.
the reason i sugest scryers is because you can jump off the elevator and live.
while this seems dumb to be the only reason to pick this faction....trust me....you save time by jumping in stead of waiting for the elevator....
Shat is no place for bank alts because as posted above....no AH.....
but this is why there are mages and ports to all major cities inside the middle of shat.
4 (i belive) reputation vendors are here.
and of course
plenty of funny NPCs are here....aka
The Muffin Man!!!
and we cant forget little
and her delicous green apples...that can be sour some times....
and the swindler
......he sells a
With that said...go out and explore shat. its a verry convinent place including a teleport to
The Caverns of Time
if you are revered with the Keepers of Time.
funny how she is classified as a dragonkin O.O
Good luck guys....if you are questing in outlands....welcome to hell...you room number is 666....have a nice day....
can alliance go here
I wonder what will happen to this city after Wotlk comes out and Dalran is the new big city
Welcome to Shattrath, a city of peace and quiet!
'HI IT'S ME A'DAL I'M GONNA SAY SOME STUFF'
*CLANG* *CLANG* *SLICE*
'HAI MY NAME IS GRAND ANCHORITE ALMONEN'
*Blood Elf female laugh*
'zomg hey guyz'
'hey draenei guy want a waffle thing'
'May it be so.'
'May it be so.'
'May it be so.'
Yeah, this place is REALLY quiet.
Approach the elevators down from the Aldor or Scryer areas with great caution if you don't have a flying mount. In a zone like Shattrath, you never know when a bit of poorly-timed lag will make you miss the platform and send you plummeting to your doom.
With Horde auction house and access points to Northrend in Orgrimmar and Undercity Shatt is going to be a ghost town
Yea dont look stupid like me and wander around looking for mage to portal back to ORG only to be told that there were portals in the city to get back too. So know I have Heartstone set to here for easy travel back.
"if you are just starting here and you are not a drani or blood elf (they are automaticly aldor/scryer) i would recomend scryers until you find out what you need."
If you are a Draenei, you start out hated with Scryers...but the quest to show you around Shatt will give you enough rep to get back up from hated, and vice versa for Blood Elves to Aldor.
The scryer tier elevator is the perfect place to get the achievement "Going Down?"
Exactly 1% health when you land. ^^ Just jump from the grassy area near the elevator and you've got your achievement. Just be careful of falling after that! Since a very short fall will likely kill you after that jump.
So sad that Shat is deserted. It had amazing potential. Definitely my favorite city in terms of how it looks... obviously it's completely useless. But still my favorite. xD
wat lvl do ya recamend
This is the Major City in Outland, added in the Burning Crusade. It's half wrecked, and holds refugees in the Lower City. There are portals to other major cities here, whether you are Alliance or Horde. But unfortunately, there is no Auction House, or Class Trainers in the city.
When you enter Shattrath at level 60, you accept a quest, and at the end of following the minion around the city (Where you become more familiar with it), you are given a choice between the Aldor and Scryer. The Aldor are all about the Light, and are draenei, although you can become friendly with them no matter what faction. Same goes with the Scryer, who are Blood Elves and are 'obsessed' with arcane magic.
Once you become friendly with one, you become hated with the other, and cannot switch back, so make you're choice carefully. If you are Aldor, you can only go onto Aldor Rise, and use the Aldor Bank. If you are Scryer, same rules apply. Unlike Dalaran, you CAN use a flying mount in the city, and enter from Terokkar Forest.
where do level 70 elite tauren chieftains play?
As of 3.1, there's a lot more incentive for players to visit Shattrath, at least if you are grinding professions from a low level (such as Death Knights or min-maxers upping JCing, etc.). If you are a Scryer or neutral, you now have access to a new set of shelves on the Scryer's Tier that act as trainers for every single profession, up to Master level (375). The new bookshelves are located smack in the middle of the Scryer's Library.
It's a wonderful alternative for folks wanting to get professions up to Wrath levels without dealing with the insane amounts of lag in Dalaran.
As of patch 3.2, while in the portal room on the horde side there's a wake effect that follows your character.
hello everyone....nice to meet u all
Quick exit from the Inn at Scryers. Run across the street to the gnome (I think it's a gnome - a little creature anyhow) and run out onto his balcony. Bubble up right quick & jump off - you'll wind up in the lower city fairly near the gate to Terokkar Forest.
This city is inhabited by Draenei and Blood Elven outcasts in which you can gain reputation for either or. They're supposed to be fighting for control over the city and you have to choose a side. As one of the above posters said, portals to all major cities will be available.
About the question about this city being two bases attached, no. The Dranei have their portion of the city and the Blood Elves their own, but both factions follow the Narru with undeniable loyalty yet they still do not like each other. They do not engage in open conflict, they just simply do not like eachother and are at peace just bc they follow the same master. Khadgar's presence there is unknown but the second post regarding him is correct, he is the leader of the alliance expedition, not the city. This city is the capital of Outland and that of the defenders against the Burning Legion. That is the common goal between these factions. Last, but not least, the question about entering another factions portal....no. Can you imagine how rediculous it would be if you can enter opposing factions cities VIA portal? As to what zone it is in, you can find it in Terrokar Forest in the northwest corner.
There's a flight point on the western edge of the city, but I can't fly anyplace from it. Why can't I fly from Shattrath to Thrallmar?
I found a portal to Silvermoon, so I clicked on it.
I thought I would be able to get back, but I was severly mistaken! Be aware that these are one way portals!
Yeah we had the same issue with flight points and there is a progression of points that you need to get back to Honor Hold from there.
There is a flypoint in the Northwestern corner of the Hellfire Penninsula at the temple of Telhamat. You also need to get the flypoint in the Zangar Marsh located in the Cenarion Refuge.
Once you have both of these flypoints and you have the flypoint in Shattrath City then you can fly all the way from Shatttrath to honor Hold and even to the Dark portal if you wish.
As far as Shattrath City is concerned, I can sum it up in 1 word. WOW!
It has everything that you need so far except that I have not found an auction house yet. I am sure it has 1 but hey the Exp pack is so new we are all still exploring.
When you get to Shattrah city make sure you accept the quest at the gate before going to the Terrace of Light. when up there you will talk to an Archmage Khadgar. He gives you a quest to talk to the Naaru right behind him. you are then escorted around town by what looks like an orange water elemental and then are told to make achoice about which faction in Shattrath City you are going to ally yourself with.
The general concensus for alliances is Aldor=Alliance and Scryers=Horde but you can make up your decision on your own.
After you decide where you are going to place your allegiance then you can go into the areas where the Inn is located, etc ...
Just be careful though, there is an elevated platform that takes you up to the faction area of the city. The first time I tried to go back down from there, I barely missed the platform going back down and fell to my untimely death in the lower level of the city.
Say what you want, Noob, whatever, but be careful and have fun in Outland
For Alliance, our Inn is in the far west of the city, on the upper level. If you still can't find it, ask a guard.
Thanks for the FP info, I was having problems with that last night, no one knew how to get them yet >.<
There are also portals to Ironforge, Darnassus, Exodar, and Stormwind in the center of the City.
I love this place...I haven't found an AH yet, either, but even if there isn't one you can easily get to any other major city and then hearth back later if need be :)
I researched the issue about auction houses.
Worldofwar.net and other places all agree that there are no auction houses in outland.
Perhaps in the way ot was coded as an addition to the original game they did not want to break the functionality of the way that the auction system works by trying to add new nodes to connect to the auction house databases.
I think it may be a safe assumption to say that it why there are portals to all major faction cities in Azeroth so that auctions will not become too inconvenient in Outland.
Also when you want to run an older instance it will not take too long to get there and back if you have your hearth set in Shattrath
If there are portals to every major city from Shattrath and you set your hearth stone there, then you can essentially hearth/portal to any city you like from wherever you are (as long as hearth isn't on cooldown).
Yay! No more paying mages for a portal from SW to Darnassus!
There are 2 Inns in the Zone. I do believe you can set your harth stone there.
Be carefull in selecting which side you want to get rep in. I have still have not decided whcih way to go.
Be careful what side you choose, im a night elf and choose the blood elves (dnt ask me why) and now mostly all the dranei there hate me, also dont go to the opposing side, caus they will attack you, also theres no AH :(
Does anyone know if there is any AH in outland?
Here's the deal with the factions: once you choose a faction, you are then allowed access to their hold in Shattrah City. If you try to go to the other faction's hold, they are aggressive to you, but the NPC's down in the city proper will not attack you, nor can you attack them. I have randomly chosen Scryers for my hunter, and I am gonna pick the Aldor for my rogue, and see what the difference is.
I know that you can get your tier 4 and 5 sets (I think it's T4 and T5, anyway...full matched sets of level 70 Epix from two different vendors, by class, for token turn ins apparently)from a vendor inside your faction, and from talking to another player that went Aldor (on a shammy though, so hard to compare), they seem on a level with each other.
Long story short, I don't think that it will make much difference which faction you choose for the rewards, but the philosophies are very different. It seems like the Aldor are very noble, where the Scryers seem to have a bit of the Blood Elf taint in their attitudes. I think I may not enjoy the quests as much from the Scryers as I will form the Aldor gang. Time will tell though, and I will try to update later once I get more experience with them both. And no, I am not an RPer, I just enjoy the story lines in the really well-written quests, and some of the lore makes for interesting discussion occasionally. Hope this helps just a little, enjoy!
The Only Moonwell I've seen in Outland so far is in Cenerion Refuge in Zangarmarsh, since the Night Elves and Tauren are almost nonexistent in Shattrath Theres no Moonwells there.
You might want to check out Cenerion Thicket just to the East on the road to Hellfire penninsula, the outpost is overrun by forest creatures but there may be a moonwell their. I haven't thoughly serched that place so I don't know.
Also one could take a portal to Darnarssus from Shattrath, I think you'll literally end up right next to a moonwell. Be sure you are either a mage who can teleport to shattrath or have your hearthstone set to outland because its along way back to outland from Darnarsus.
at Terrace of Light.
Too bad this post is so long down, cuz here's a nice list of rewards fro mthe two factions.
Aldor and Scryer comparison
It's wrong.. there is also a moonwell in Evergrove (cenarion expedition camp) in blades edge mountains
This is a great place to set your hearthstone in outlands, since you can reach ANY major city in the game from this city(one way trip though). There's no class trainers in Shattrath City though.
Also, is it just me or does Shattrath City look somewhat like Midgar from Final Fantasy 7 from afar?
Also the "lower city" makes me think of the "slum" in Midgar, perhaps another reference to stuff by Blizz?
Enchanters.. The only Grand Master Enchanter Trainer in Shattrath, (43,92) High Enchanter Bardolan is a Scryer.
So, for those favoring Aldor, visit Grand Master Enchanter, Johan Barnes in Honor Hold (53,66 Hellfire Peninsula).
There's another Grand Master Enchanter in Outland, Asarnan. This trainer is found in Netherstorm at 43,33 (Southern area of the large Northern-most island). I'm not sure of the faction. Perhaps Asarnan is neutral.
How can i run to shattrath city?
You can repair at the place you buy your tier sets from, be it aldor or scryers area.
Eg, aldor = "Asur" in "Shrine of unending light" (23.32)
what lvl do you get to go to shattrath?
where is the portal to this city in silvermoon? i am a 52 hunter and need to get here to train my skinning above 300? Is the only way to get a portal from a mage?
Nutral - Flight Master
You can get to Shattrath as a level 10+, no port needed (well, one will be needed originally but that's it).
All you need is a friend in your tier level (you are a 15, your friend is a 10-19, you are a 33, your friend is a 30-39, etc.) who has access to Shat. Or if it is you who have access to Shat, you can bring your same-tier friends over for free. So, one person will need to buy a port but after that, it can be free for all their same-tier friends by doing this:
The person with access to Shat needs to be the group leader and sign up for a "enter as a group" Battleground via a Battlemaster in Shat. After you go in the Battleground as a group, when the BG is over (you may be able to exit without doing the actual BG; haven't tried that yet myself), you will pop out in Shat since that is where the group was signed up. Set your stone to the Inn there and you're set.
Shattrath has heavy lag on some computers - the worst lag of Horde and Alliance Cities put together. : /
This city is not horde, alliance, or contested terriory. it is a
area, (or how ever u spell it) because this city is aldor and scryers area. for then, even if u have pvp on or not, u cannot get attacked by horde or allaince. this city i named was the "Peace city". i don't know why.
You need the burning crusade expansion to enter this zone. This zone is located in nagrand in outlands. also the dark portal lies between badlands and the dark portal in outland. you must be at least level 58 to enter the portal, but you can easily get a mage port to shattrath, no matter what level you are. Shattrath city isen't much to low levels under level 50, but once you are higher level you'll discover this city is accully quite amazing.
: Reminder to mages that you need to be level 60 to make a self teleport to this city and u must be level 65 to make group portals.
PLEASE BE AWARE! THE MAJOR CITY PORTALS ARE 1-WAY PORTALS.
Whats the quickest wat to get honored with Sha'tar?
I believe this city also connects to terrokar.
Don't log out on the elevators. You have a big chance the elevator is gone without you. You will fall to dead.
When I first got a portal to Shat, I made the inn at Aldor my hearthstone cause thats where i landed. I did not know of the feud between the Aldor and the Scryers. I found a book while questing that said turn it in to the library of the Scryers. Once I did that, I am now unfriendly to the Aldor. I had honored rep before turning in that stupid book. First there should have been some warning that completing the quest would have negative consequences. Second, how do I get my rep with the Aldor back? I am questing in Area 52 and even they are not friendly! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
How do i get there?
