No class starts with the ability to use fist weapons, but Druids, Hunters, Rogues, Shaman, and Warriors can all learn to use them from a Weapon Master.

Fist Weapons use the Unarmed skill, but fighting with fist weapons is not the same as fighting unarmed. The primary use of fist weapons (unless you get a high-level epic one) is to keep your unarmed skill in league with your skill in other weapons, so that if you are disarmed you are not totally helpless.

Umm, fist weapons are NOT primarily for keeping "unarmed skill in league with your skill in other weapons, so that if you are disarmed you are not totally helpless."
That's just plain wrong. Some of the best blue weapons in the game are fist. Please disregard that comment

Strangely enough, Fist Weapons seem to be considered Blunt Weapons for the purposes of sharpening/weightstones. I was quite surprised when I tried to sharpen my new claws and it wouldn't let me.

Fist weapons are now untrainable, it is considered the 'Un-armed' skill.

Trivia: druids are the only class that can learn Fist weapons that cannot also Dual Wield. There are few reasons other than RP a Druid might want to equip a Fist weapon for...In almost every case, a staff or caster weapon and offhand would prove more effective.
That said, Fist Weapons can look quite cool.

Can anyone tell me how I learn the skill for fist weapons ?, some sites say it's just unarmed with I'm ranked in and others say you learn the skill from a weapon master ?
I have a fist weapon but my lvl57 rogue gets the 'you don't have the proficiency to use these' message when I try and equip ?

I've heard rumors that Fist Weapons add Poisons faster than lets say.. Maces. Is this true or just that, a rumor?

Just a little question. seeing as they lvl up the unarmed skill does that mean you don't need duel wielding for them? or am i being stoopid :P Many thanks

Totaly waist to train those for druids, all of em sucks and most of em has chans on hit and is therfore usless in shapeshift form.
Would be cool thus to have a extra claw in casterform also. Hope blizz makes a nice druid only fist weapon, maybe a feral one giving rage and energy when shapshifting.

That picture you are describing is of one of the heroes from Wacrcraft III - Illidan Stormrage. Or another Demon-hunter, a night-elf only hero-class from that game. They are only back-story for the World of Warcraft.
To date that style of weapon does not exist in World of Warcraft, and it is pointless to really get into a discussion over what kind of weapon they are. They are unique to something that does not (yet) exist.
Perhaps if or when Blizzard opens up the dark portal and allows folks to go to Draenor (the orc homeworld where Illidan was banished when he failed to defeat Arthas at the end of Warcraft III), these will come into play and be available. Until such time, it is just a pretty picture.

I am a human warrior, just turned 40 and want to train fist weapons for their fast attack speeds so I can OT or tank in battle stance. I have been to all 4 weapons trainers and not one of them offered it, but I haven't trained it already (at least they dont show up under proficiencies under the skills tab). I can, however, equip them, but when I attack, they only register as unarmed skill. Is this bugged or am I just missing something?

Anyone know what weapon buffs can be used with fists? I know rogue poisons can be applied to these and sharpening stones cannot...

people people please, the answer to this conumdrem is this. the fist weps can only be used in off hand when a person has duel weild ability, if not then no weapon can be held in off hand. second, fist weps are designed for rogues or warriors. this is because the speed of the weapon, with the ammount of strengh plus to ur attacks a warrior can put out some serious damage with them. as for rogues, daggers are thier main but if u wana have power and speed, then fist weps are for u, just think of them like swords only WAAAY faster. like a fist wep adverage attack speed for a fist wep is 1.40 where as a sword which is not a rapier is 2.70............you do the math.

For you Night Elf folks who are nearby. You can find Fist Training from Ilyenia(sp?) Moonfire and the Fist Weapons from the Weapon Merchant next to her at the Warrior's Terrace in Darnassus.

DarkWraith72, you said being an elemental shammy makes one a moron! have you tried it yet? probably not, otherwise you'd know that they throw out a lot of critical hits. I use elemental which puts me more in the class of a tank now since my hits are higher than that of most tank warriors. As for resto, whats the point, if we felt like be healers we would have gone the route of a priest.
To the others asking about duel fist weapons, NO shammies can't duel wield.

again.. NO, we Druids CANNOT use offhand weapons. orbs, as mentioned above, are offhand ITEMS. don't delude yourself. sure, you may be toting an offhand ITEM during UC... yer still hitting with yer hand.
the confusion may be in the animation for UC. you attack with both hands. (so, yes, we can dual wield our own fists. lol) you might notice, during a combat tick, one number being consecutively higher than the other on damage.. that's the FW hitting.
fog lifting yet?
it's not a suggested main weapon for Druids
-given the lack of FW with buffs of any sort
-most offhand items dont offer buffs equal to some other class appropriate weapons
-true FW efficiency requires overloading on Str and Agl thus having to let mana/casting stat buffs wain
i do train my UC along side my main weapon skill.. just in case i do get hit with a temporary Disarm. carrying and occasionally using a FW doesnt make you daft. in fact, it makes you a better combatant who's ready for the 'just in case' scenarios.

I'm a druid, level 45. I went to Darnassus to learn fist weapons, and the trainer said to go to Ironforge and learn it there, so off to IF I go, and of course he tells me the trainer is in Darnassus.
So I ask in general and everybody says its Darnassus for sure. Any clue what I am doing wrong?

for a rogue, combat spec, these cannot be beat.
i get +5% crit for all my abilities while using the GM's fist, which has 2.90 speed in my MH... slower than some 2h weapons! its crazy the SS i call pull off with fist weapons, and with the spec, i crit often >:)

As of 2.0 and Burning Crusade, fist weapons have undergone a fundamental change.
Beforehand, I usually dual-wielded them on my rogue. Good damage, and very fast attacks. I know someone who has a deadly build around these. However, now thier speed has been slowed way down.
You can't find a 60+ one with less than 2.0 attack speed, they're normally around 2.4-2.7.... why? Because Enhancement Shamans can use and dualwield them, but not swords - think of it like using a sword, only blunt, and with unarmed.... they do close to the same damage range at the same speed.

Hi, i am a warrior, and just started using a Fist wepon and was wondering if anyone knows if this has any influance on the Parry ability. i mean - Parry req melee wepon, and although i would have counted a Fist weapon as one - the fact taht it's relevant skill is Unarmed meaks me uncertain and that although i supposedly have 9% chance to parry i knoticed that i didnt see my char doing any Parrying (or maybe i didnt notive?)...

For the dumbasses on druid-crack throughout this topic, you CANNOT and NEVER WILL be able to use offhanded Fist weapons, never. So either go get a warrior, rogue, or hunter, or just leave this page forever.
Jeeze...can't a rogue just get some decent info about fist weapons without having to filter through all the little "know-it-alls" who think they can dualwield?
What *I* Want to know, is what kind of fists I should get (If any). I'm a rogue and I have two fist weapons that each have a speed of 2.60 and a top Damage of 171. (I'm a level 64 BTW) I know that traditionally, a good combination is a slow mainhand, like a sword, and a fast off hand, like a dagger or a faster sword. Do fist weapons hold any advantages (Besides looking "cool")? Or are they just there to add more "depth" to the game? Mind you, these are green fists, nothing fancy.
Thank you for your input in advance.

1.) Warriors. Rogues. Shamans. Druids. Hunters. These classes can use fist weapons.
2.) Warriors. Rogues. Shamans, Hunters. These classes can dual wield, and thus, they can dual wield fist weapons.
3.) Fist weapons tend to be misunderstood. This is becuase until Burning Crusade, fist weapons were a joke. Do a weapons search for fist weapons sometime. Only about 70 or so weapons at the moment and most of them are lvl 57up. Blizz didn't seriously consider them worthwhile until gamers spoke up. They're not meant for everyone, however. Because of their nature and there buffs, they are generally meant for 3 of the 4 classes that can dual wield them (War, Rog, Sham). They're an option for hunters however, its generally not the first choice for them (hunters look sexiest with polearms). However, like most weapons some are almost certainly meant for certain classes.
4.) There are *generally* two classes of fist weapons. Fist weapons for Rogues/Fury Warriors and fist weapons for Enhancement Shamans. All you need to know is that if the off-hand is a faster weapon (2.4ish and down) then it is meant for rogues/ fury warriors If it is slow (in similar speed to its main hand sister weapon) then it is meant for Enh Shammies. This has to do with Windfury enhancements shamans use. Long story short, using a faster weapon nerfs their damage output. Take a look at
https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=28314/角斗士的左拳刃
. See those? See how quick they are? Much faster than their main hand companion. An enhance shaman would be unwise to use them, especially when there are better fist sets available.
5.) Fist weapons look cool. There is something intense and primal about fighting your opponent with your fist that just makes a kill "feel better". Try it sometime.
6.) Fist weapons use unarmed skill. Not some magic "fist" skill. Yes, you can get disarmed using a fist weapon. Fist weapons used to be undisarmable (real world?) which made a lot of sense. However, fist weapons also used to be a joke. So, YES fist weapons can be disarmed BUT because your unarmed skill will be high you won't be as bad off as someone untrained in unarmed.
7.) To date, as far as I know, their are no caster fist weapons. It would seem pointless, as the only class who would use them is Resto/Elemental Shamans and druids. And they could only use one because, as of now, dual wielding is deep in the enhancement talent tree and druids just can't dual wield. Long story short, you probably won't see caster fist anytime soon.
X.) The info here is far from complete. But I hope I cleared some things up for a few people though.

I don't understand how there isn't a comment about this already, but here we go.
The Fist Weapons weapon skill is taught by the Weapon Master Sayoc in the Valley of Honor in Orgrimmar for Horde and by Ilyenia Moonfire at the Warrior's Terrace in Darnassus for Alliance
