Yeah….reduce chance to hit by 5%....and for 20 seconds… that means if the target attacks once per second for the whole duration, the target will only miss once…

Same as Viper sting, only 1 Scropid sting allow to be on 1 target. So, 2 hunters can put 2x Seprpent stings on 1 target but not all others stings.

I use this while taming pets.
I find it more useful than concussive shot, especially against targets that tend to break freeze trap early.
This keeps you from getting pounded as hard by really hard-hitting enemies.
(even avoiding one hit while taming is a lot)
Also, important to note that this sting does not do damage, therefore it should break crowd control... Can anyone confirm this?
Example, if you're going around stinging targets, and they all have DoTs on them, what happens to all the CC? Use this to replace the Viper/Serpent stings you have on mobs.
This will make CC much easier... Serpent/Viper sting breaks your Freeze trap as well, so pop this sting on before trying to Freeze Trap.

Scorpid Stings from different hunters on the same target overwrites each other and does not stack.

Do you even play this game? Unless it's a special encounter, like Void Reaver (Although his susceptibility to Vengeance has/is being changed), you cannot reduce bosses' stats, ROMULO INCLUDED. It would only mildy be useful on trash mobs.

So with Scorpid Sting now your pet gets 5% hit mitigation when you are tanking with it...and that is bad? Would seem to lead to less downtime when grinding to me...

Its much better to use serpent sting instead of scorpid. The 5% is not enough to use this in place of serpent. And the person who said less downtime, the 5% isn't going to make your downtime any less, the dmg reduction isn't enough. And besides, mend pet can heal your pet very quickly, or on its own relativly fast.

Yeah, this is meant to be used in groups for boss fights to reduce the amount of damage your tank is taking.

Finally a debuff that makes a difference with raid encounters from hunters side. -5% chance to hit = 5% less damage. with a timer addon its 0 problem to keep this up at all time through a long boss fight.

This owns in PvP. Lets think about it against a twink real quick. Lets say said twink deals 1000 dps and has 5000 health (absurd, but lets just say thats what it is). Serpent sting will deal 80 damage, taking away around 2 percent of his/her health. A 5% miss chance however, will cause said twink to lose around 50 dps...not bad, eh?

the only time i see this as a useful spell is against a boss, 80 dmg over time isn't much against a boss thing so i guess this would give your tank at least a little break. still, it's not my choice for a sting. i suggest keeping it on a sidebar though...aspect of the monkey+this will help if your trying to run away

Let's say that your in a group with about 10 hunters, and the tank has about 50 % to avoid the attacks. 10 hunter's will be 50 % reduction on the boss, which will make the boss unable to hit the tank because of that he all in all got 100% to miss on the tank. Isn't it a good idea? =)

Sigh....i think only 3 people here are hunters, well good ones anyway. which is not surprising considering some of the noobs i meet, this shot kicks ass for bosses, what tank wouldn't kill for 5% more mitigation. Unfortunately though, this shot does not stack additionally with multiple hunters, as previous posters may think. im not sure how it stacks sorry.

hey guys im a lvl 23 hunt and im thinking can scorpid be really that good with monkey? i mean ur all saying that in PvP it would be good but about half of u r against eachother just tell me

1 Hunter should have this perminantly up on bosses in raid encounters.
Its effectively 5% less damage to the MainTank.
Less mana used by healers, higher chance of the tank avoiding crits and crushing blows that may otherwise wipe the raid.
Every little bit of mitigation counts.

This is plainly not for the best solo hunter but on raid bossses and even regular bosses this could mean a difference between wipe/live... hmm 800 damage over 15sec and a wipe or just 80 damage and no wipe... hard decision ((sarcasm)) but this meant for bosses and such

why not just use it anyway?
its not gonna take much just to use it.. id rather have 5% less chance of getting hit.. if ur tanking ur pet.. while serpernt sting is cooling down why not just pop this bad boy in, instead of just firing arrows?
or if the mob does come at u then its more chance to use mongoose bite =D

Aimed shot > half way through, send pet > concussive shot > serpent sting > arcane shot > if time, scorpid sting > if mob runs to u, melee attack, hopefully he'll miss becuase of scorpid sting > mongoose bite
that'll kill or greatly damage more or less anything around ur range lol.. takes a #$%^ load of mana
that works alot if the mob comes at u... other than that ur pet dont take as many attacks and u keep hittin with arrows
most people would say freezing trap then get back and hit with arrows if the mob comes at u or maybe , freezing trap > disengage (to take agro off u and on ur pet) then AotC get the %^&* back AotH and hit with more ranged... but i like to have a good melee weapon too! =p

I just ran heroic Ramparts on my druid with a pug hunter. About halfway in I noticed that he was using serpent sting, and since our healer was a bit undergeared I asked him to switch to scorpid.
He informed me that he doesn't have it. Never got it. Apparently managed to avoid getting it ever since level 22. Seriously, every time he hit the trained he would have seen it in green and thought "hey, that's not worth 54 silver".
My main is a hunter. I like playing the class. I do a ton of damage, I provide substantial utility, and I feel that I bring a lot to the group as a hunter. I hate, however, that many people assume that every hunter in the game is a moron. It bothers me that while many classes are poorly played, only one has had its name combined with retard. As such, I'd like to make the following points:
1) If you can get a skill from a trainer, get it. It's 54 goddamned silver. If you can afford the key for heroics, you can afford this skill.
2) When you're in a group, use scorpid sting. Always. Unless there's another hunter with you who is using it (it doesn't stack), keep it on whatever is hitting the tank at all times. 5% is huge, it causes very little threat, and if you accidentally hit a CC targeted mob with it it will not break CC. Conversely, serpent sting does very, very little. The tiny DPS that it gives is not worth it.
3) If you play a hunter, for the love of god, learn to play your class. We can be a huge asset to any group, and yet, it seems like almost no one realizes it because of the number of morons playing this class. I am sick of having to explain to people that I can actually CC a target pretty much indefinitely, I am amazed that people are actually surprised when I am at the top of the DPS list instead of fighting to stay above the tanks.
In closing, excelling at a hunter is tough. There's a ton of coordination that goes into timing everything correctly; it's not easy. Getting the basics down, though -- what sting to use, how to trap, et cetera, is not. These basics are what makes you a hunter, not a $%^&*!@.

Yes, it DOES reduce how often the tanks get hit, which reduces how much rage they have, however most tanks (pallys and warriors) Rely on evading/blocking attacks. Pallys use mana instead of rage, so evading doesn't mean a loss of rage. Prot warriors and Arms warriors can use special counter skills that cause massive amounts of agro only after a dodge or block occurs, so the 5% really helps these tanks. As for druid tanks, I'm not too sure on their abilities as far as tanking goes, never really looked into it.

Scorpid Sting at rank 4 will reduce a target's Agility and Strength by 68. In theory, assuming a basic enemy NPC receives the same stat values as a player's Warrior, this results in ~3% less chance to crit/dodge, -68 armor, -136 attack power and -34 block value.
It's important to know that attack power affects enemy NPC damage more than it does with players so the 136 attack power lost
that stacks with Demoralizing Shout/Roar
is pretty good at crippling a target's damage output.
