Fixed in 2.1.2: Druids in Swift Flight form can no longer loot herb nodes.
Swift flight form is also mad useful for the netherwing races in shadowmoon.
It replaces the Normal Flight form into the Swift Flight form.
I just get it on my druid and I wan`t to post some informations I was wondering about before I had it:
Form can sit on ground (x key by default) just like on screenshots, however it don`t have running animation (as Dragons/Gryphons/Wyverns), it just fly above the ground like "normal" Flight Form
While flying on ground, it behaves just like other epic flight mounts - that means +100% speed instead of +280%
While sitting, some emotes (/cheer /silly) will give voice respound, but of an elf... not a bird
The form doesn`t have any special emotes... so no /dance, no /wave etc (that would be really fun though if they add it...)
In case of Night Elf druid - yes, it have big, long ears...
I`ll add more if I find anything interesting.
The Tauren form has horns.
Bird-to-bird mid-air trades are possible.
Does anybody else feel like pulling a Medivh and warning the world when playing as a Druid with Swift Flight Form?
Can you autoattack while in bird form?
Just think...Epic duels between two druid high above shatt...I can imagine the crowd coming to watch...
so you have to still buy riding skill whatever?
Chain starts here:
You will need the 300 riding skill before you can start the chain. I think you pick up the 1st quest in the chain from a druid trainer.
Edited, May 27th 2007 7:58am by rjdennison
can't seem to find the quest giver :[
anyone know where the quest giver for this is?
The quest starts from a druidtrainer in Moonglade, but ONLY when you have bought the 300 riding skill. Around 49,37 in Moonglade, Nighthaven. I could be a few coords off, but he's just outside the southern building in Nighthaven.
Yes you need epic (300) riding skill (5k gold) in order for the quest giver to even talk to you.
yes, u still have to pay the 5k gold for artisan (300) riding
Well now, i've spent the last half hour reading every single post currently posted. In my opoion not that most people will read down this many posts. No it dosn't make sense that we have to learn how to ride birds so we can shapeshift into a bird (i think you ought to be able to start and do all but on part in chain before 300 riding but whatever)However 5k gold is just too much to get handed too you then everyone will be a druid and blizziard will pout and quit and make a new game..... So thoes of you who want to complain then don't get your epic flyer. thoes who arn't posting and arn't taking the time to read and there just griding good for them. For the Locks and pally issue... druids can't say crap... we get 900g handed too us thats more than both regular and epic ground mounts combined... and they still pay for there epic ground soooooooooooooooooooo don't gripe grind=) (flame me all you want i really don't care=))
Just like the guy above me, I've been reading most of these posts in here about the quest/money/etc.
For those that think we shouldn't pay the 5k for the flight training, don't be so cheap. Everyone else has to pay their fair share, you may not think it makes sense, but it's the fair thing to do.
It still costs a bit of gold (About 7g) to get the level 68 flying form, and you still need your epic riding skill (150) to be able to use that one. ((Just saw someone ask that, so wanted to answer his question))
Seen a couple people ask if it overrides the first flight form, like Dire Bear form overrides Bear Form... haven't gotten to 70 yet, so I can't say, but I'd like to know too, lol... I would assume it does, but can't say.
Personally, I freaked when I saw that we could get a swift flight form, I didn't know how to get it at first, but I knew I'd do almost anything for it, and seeing that people can do it in less than 2 days, I can't wait to start it, never seen anyone in the level 68 flying form, so I think it would be awesome to be one of the first to get this form XD...
Just kinda sucks for the druids that already have epic flying mounts, kinda no point in doing it for them =P... Oh well, just putting out my thoughts... ((With the post being this long, I doubt it'll be read though, lol))

I'm very aware for most of you, 5000 gold is a lot to get (as it is for me). Thing is, you have to
think of it as a goal
. What I mean by that is I bet most of you--even if you refuse to get 5000 gold, you still have a second thought about it. Kinda left off as an incomplete thing to do, where you'll worry about it
I pretty well did the same before I finally really began wanting it. Not a whole lot of people have it, and it would be nice to be part of the guys who are up there with the super fast flying mounts/forms. I simply started questing, and never knew it was so easy to make gold! It takes about one hour for 100g when you quest non stop, pushing from area to area or quest to quest.
I'm lucky enough that someone I know is lending me 2000g, but you get more daily quests when you get your epic flight training. Now wait? More daily quests?--that means more money every day rather than doing quests you don't know about, you just fly out and do the quests that you learn to master and get gold with. At first when you have no gold, it can be a huge drag to continue to quest/grind for gold. Just be patient, now I have 4030g, and need to farm another 970g--so f*cking close!
When I do get this form finally, it will take some presure off my chest of goals that I have to do with this Druid (even if I have to pay someone back, who cares, questing will be a breeze with this form). Basically this game is only about goals (or mainly), so don't get peeved over something that requires you do push a little harder. I guess this may be a problem for some, but as for me, I already farmed for the Reins of the Winterspring Frostsaber twice, on two druids lol (lvl 60 druid, remade another druid after tbc now lvl 70--I love druids!). So you can see where I'm coming from. :)
I know this is a lot to read, but I hope it might help some to be a little more convinced about farming for gold in any way possible that's best for them. Thank you for reading though, and good luck farmers!
Edit: I just remembered to mention; if you still not sure, think of it this way, we didn't have to pay 800g for our 225 flying training. 5000g - 800g = 4200g. It would be rude not to take advantage of this and get an awesome form! Too bad for the non druid players!

For all those who care... You do not have to be revered with lower city to start quest you can do quest right up to heroic part and earn extra gold that way.
You will get a trinket that makes your speed increase by 10 percent in the process. It is alot of junk to do but I did it anyways now all I have to do is wait to become revered and do the quest in heroic.
It can not hurt to get in done.
BTW I started it by talking to my druid trainer in darnasuss.
HOPE YOU ALL GIVE IT A SHOT.
Instant cast>3second cast
druid swift flight form FTW!
I am 100% for paying 5k gold, i know its allot of grinding/dealing... but hey, fairs fair; im sure blizzard would prefer a few complaints from some childish druid players whineing about how its to hard and somehow unfair to grind some gold... apposed to allot of players from every other class complaining about how unfair it is that they need to pay 5k and druids just need to ding.
This is just another in a line of things that don't seem quite fair. It's one of the newer things so we're still talking about it. (Personally I don't think running around dying while dueling my warlock friends, or standing there swaying back and forth dying while fighting my Rogue friends is really that fair but we're all used to it so we gripe less.) I'll be getting regular flight form in one level. Many people have complained about this. I'm not going to debate whether this is fair or not. My pally and lock friends don't think so, but they've also conveniently forgotten rubbing it in my face for 2 levels that they got their first mount for free when I was struggling to earn a mount of my own.
The point is this: Blizzard themselves established this in the lore they created. In Warcraft III, druids have flight form. Before BC came out druid forms were all free (as in we could train them, or do a quick quest to get them). Flight form was made the same. I admit that it's nice to save the 1000g though there's an argument that relatively we're not saving much more than locks and pallys do with their first mount. Yes yes, I hear you protesting that 100g is not 1000g. Please note the use of the word REALATIVELY. What I mean by that is that when I got my first mount, I spent 100% of the money I had to get it (also it took until I was level 42). When I hit 70 I should have just over 1000g and could buy a flying mount and would spend about 100% of my money to do so. Locks and Pallys save about 100g (on their free mounts) which is almost 20% (18.5% for those sticklers out there) of the 540g epic riding (150). I'll be saving about 1000g on my flying form which is 20% of the 5000g epic flying (300). So indirectly, locks and pallys get 18.5% off their epic riding level, and Druids get 20% off epic flying level (assuming the money saved on the free mounts is saved for the epic versions). Also please note that I'm not comparing difficulty or costs of the quests to get the epic versions, I've helped a warlock get his epic mount and it is NOT fun. Having said all of that, feel free to debate the fairness of giving 3 classes free mounts at some point and the rest of the classes the same treatment, just don't single druids out over locks and pallys, we're all lucky jerks.
As far as Swift Flight Form goes, obviously I'd love to get it for free (as I'm sure most of us would) but I think Blizz was right in making Druids have to pay for the riding. That's balanced. Now for those of you complaining about the fact we don't actually pay for our form, have you seen the quest? I'd MUCH rather shell out 200g and buy a riding crop than do this mess. Having said that, I probably will.
K, I've read almost every post on the board, now I'm a shaman, so that means I have to pay for my mounts, every little bit, and for what I've read some of you guys are whiny little B$#ches, oooh boo hoo I gotta pay 5000g so I can learn this spell. I have to pay 5200g for my training and my mount, but you don't see me complaining, and asides if you count in the riding crop I'm paying 5300g, where as you guys get a free trinket that's the exact same as the riding crop, and for the druids that already got an epic flying mount, stop whining then, if you already got it then don't bother with it. I swear people should stop playing games if all they're gonna do is whine and cry about it, just like life it's not fair get used to it,"errr nerf this nerf that" suck it up and move on....
No class is fair, we all have our tricks and that's how it ought to stay because if everything was the same, what'd be the point of advancing in the game, I've played every class whether it be briefly or for an extensive time, either way I've learned to enjoy each class with it's flaws and it's upsides, so before anyone says oh well this has to be fixed about this class.... think about your own class, think about how stacked it is against another class, and then think whether you actually think that's fair and when you've come to your conclusion, think if the paticular class you wanted nerfed, still deserves to be nerfed, and stop picking on druids, warlocks and pallidans because they get free mounts, they're not really free they have to quest for them they also have to pay money for them too, don't know about you but the closest thing to a quest for me is to fly from shattrath to shadowmoon to buy my mount.
One last thing, it's not always the class that beats you, it may just be the player, believe it or not there's people who just are awesome at games and will always be better than you, so before you go flaming his/her class think about that too.
Crimknight, Baelgun lvl 70 Shaman
For those who have had problems getting started and are getting lost in all the banter, starting is simple.
1. Pay 5,000 gold for riding skill(300)in
2. Go to Druid Trainer in Moonglade to start
It is in fact a --16 part quest chain--. For complete list of quests yo ucan visit this site...
mounts. generaly all fast mounts are expensive. all exept paladins 100% ground mount.
me as a lock my 100% class mount costed me 300 gold more than a normal 100% mount but i did it cause its my class mount.
druids shouldnt think the fact of having to pay 5k gold as something not right.
you pay 5k gold to get around fast. and you have the option of doing a quest to get your unique fly form.all classes @ tbc have to pay the 5k gold because blizzard wanted to avoid the whining in the forums about other classes paid less to get their mounts.
in any case the fly form benefits are only 2 in contrast to any other 280% flying mount:
a) it has no cast time
b) you are immune to polymorph
so why all theese conversation and whinning?
need to stop complaining about the 5k, were aculy extremly lucky......................pallys/locks get a free 40 mount (90g) but still have to pay about 450g worth of mats for the quest to get thier epics......so you figure at the most thier saving 350g.. we have to pay 5k like every one else yes, but we dont have to pay 900g or 200g for the 2 flying mounts, both epic and non epic.............so if you think about it pallys and locks are saving 350g, we are saving 1100g...............................dunno about you guys but saving 1100g plus having a mount that is and instant cast. Got to tell ya blizz hooked us up. plus we get a free trinket that ups our epic form to 290%.
On another note im a night elf druid so i like the look of mine. LOL sorry horde i think your epic flying form looks like crap. But damn it all your bear form looks cooler
You're gonna have to pay 5k gold for 300 riding
-Costs an additional 200 gold
-3 second cast
+No mana cost
2 -, 1 +
+No additional cost
-Costs some mana
1 -, 2 +
So... would you like to go flying mount or flying form?
I guess that there aint many farmers in here ^^, but I am, and I am going for the 5k g now... If u r having trouble getting gold easy, just start in hellfire, do quests... U can get about 120-130g an hour, if u really think about it. BUT, this takes long, and it can be boring, but when u got the 5k g and r on the way to get ur training u r soooo happy...
I was... :P
My main is a druid and yes they can do about anythign but not everything as well as others. Cat form is liek a rouge but not as good, bear form is liek a warrior but not as good, balance is pretty good but i prefer mages multiply spells over the 3 druid ones. Healing is awesome but the rez really kills "best healer" status. 5k gold so what you all are whiny little brats. We are lucky we even get a free mount. The last thing blizzard needs is ppl whinign about how they hate the 5k gold thing when really the only reason they are mad is becuz they are to lazy to go earn it like every other class has to.

YOU HAVE Swift Flight Form
This is the greatest thing ever. You dont break form while gathering a flower.. but even if you did, instant cast.. now i KNOW im not the only one who went around flying up as far as i could then shapeshifing out, freefalling then catching with flightform at the last second ^^
... i am prolly not the only one who missed a few times -_-
I was just wondering can you shift to epic flight form and then quick shift to cat form for reduced fall damage from feline grace to really piss off someone when you are ganking them?
i mean you take less damage, they dont know what the hell is going on till you take off a good chunk of their health bar,idk what the downside of that would be
you can. but better, change into bear and charge from the air! hehe
Do you still have you to get epic mount traing or no cuse did the new papch?
LOLOLOLOLOLOL Got this on my drood and i think we are at a slight advantage... *cough* Instant cast *cough* Super tight :)
I <3 RANDOM MAMBLING
it is my belief, having played a a druid to 70, and having ownd in pvp(in all brackets). That druids may not have all the abilities of the main class's that they mock! However, using the ones that do, they excell further than the class's they mock! I will down a warr/mage/lock/shad priest/or rogue on any given day, any given situation! The reason they excell is the simplicity of their abilitie, and the complicity on the apllications, druids, are one of three class's that fight fair( including warr, mage) everyone complains about us because they just cant seem to bring to us down!
Anyone who continues to complain about the locks mounts and the pallys mounts really should have comitted hari kari by now, or at least grow up.
This spell is instant cast, which makes it very valuable to get out of sticky situations.
i realize that it cannot be used in combat, but honestly, if you use that right before you are in combat, theyd have to have a team of affliction warlocks to kill you.
