In the Nethercite mines you can get any Blue gem + Green gem a High chance on Motes of fire and Motes of Earth and a very small chance on a Netherwing egg (Handed in for Reputation with the Netherwing Faction) You can only Mine these Deposits if you are in the Dragonmaw Illusion

can you mine these with out having the 300 riding skill and on the quest to use the objects? found out you can no mine till you get the quest and 300 riding skill

Rare gems also drop off these nodes, so far I've dredged up 1 star of elune out of them.

The drop % is the usual vanishingly small amount.

True, got a Living Ruby out of one today.

Also, if you´re picking up mining new, it´s most probably the easiest and quickest way to level mining from 350-375

Actually, the drop percentage of blue gems is much higher i believe, as in 2 days i have found nearly 10 blue gems off of the nethercite deposits

No, you need to have the Dragonmaw Illusion Buff to mine these, and the only way to get the buff is to accept the quest you recieve once you get 300 riding skill.

The droprate of rare gems is similar to Adamantite Veins' I think. Got a Nighteye, a Living Ruby and a Dawnstone from the times I've mined them.

It is Absolutelly possible to get 2 netherwing eggs from a node. Loot is individualy random for each time you cast mining on these nodes.

I reached exalted with netherwing some time ago after a lot of questing and mining of nethercite, during that time i did get the odd blue item gem. I have just been into the mines today 2nd day after 2.4 released to see if nether residue is able to drop from the nodes and from mining 6 nodes i found 1 noble topaz, 1 talasite and 2 star of elune. One node produced 2 of the gems in the same loot, but no residue, luck or higher drop rate since patch 2.4 ? Incidently I continued to mine several nodes outside of the mines and recieved only normal loot.

Edit... The nodes outside the mines are yielding high too, i usually get 3 or 4 if not more while doing the daily quests ..... 1 week now since 2.4 came out and also after the 1st update was released.

I've been told as of 2.4 the green gems don't drop from nodes anymore, and can only be obtained from prospecting. Can anyone confirm this? I will say, since 2.4, I've only had a few blues drop, and no greens, so it looks like this is the case.

Edit: BTW, I'm refering to any mining node (in outland), not just nethercite

these do NOT drop nether residue for the shattrath daily quest. however, they do have a very high drop rate of blue quality gems. id have to guess its somewhere around the chance you have on khorium deposits/rich adamantite although they are *MUCH* more common, meaning that they are a pretty substantial source of income for miners farming the Netherwing Ledge.

nethercite ore is not prospectable, in a single day i mined ~300 ore an have had 5 netherwing eggs an no green gems, though i have had 2 rubies, 4 topazes, 1 talasite, 2 dawnstones and a nightseye

they appear to have a phenomenal drop rate of rare gems, and the vein respawn rate is very fast, so if you want rare gems i recommend farming these

Drop rate on blue gems from these deposits is just awesome. I went inside the cave to slay 5/15, gather 15 cargo and 30 crystals and I returned with 2x Dawnstone, 1x Living Ruby and 1x Talasite.

I just got my epic flying mount, and I went straight to Netherwing Ledge, farming Nethercite Deposits. After 2 days of 3-4 hours of farming in total, I got 1x Living Ruby, 3x Dawnstone, 5x Noble topaz, 2x Talasite and 1x Star of Elune. Other materials: 3x primal fires (30 motes of fire), 8-10 primal earth (80-90 motes of earth), and about 30-40 eternium ore. If you need cash, this is the best option.

Can anyone confirm whether or not the motes, and gems have been taken out of the nethercite veins? I've mined 48 nethercite ore now with not a single mote of earth, fire, or any quality gem.

edit: I got up to 62 ore before I saw 3 motes of earth and 1 mote of fire. Still no gems of any quality. (I know they're rare, but I'd usually get at least 1 green by now).

edit: 1 Blood Garnet after 84 ore.

OH. MY. GOD. they've buffed the drop rate of blue gems in these now. Today alone ive had 45 blue gems, varying from living ruby and talasite, to star of elune, got them all. Great moneymaker.

Wow... I've only been lucky enough to get around 4 or 5 in the 1 or 2 hours of Mining/Killing Flayers/Picking up the pieces. Are you spending 10 hours a day in there or what?

45 blue gems... that's insane.

I think they might have unbuffed the drop chance..either that or im really unlucky lately Ive been getting maybe 1 blue for every 40 or so ore.
Has anyone else noticed a decrease?

I've had lots of blue gems from these things. It's incredible! My JC alt is levelling faster than ever before! :P
