Feralas is the Hippogryph homeland. Also, this is where the Night Elves came to Azeroth from the Emerald Dream, via the Dream Bough. The only instance currently available in Feralas is Dire Maul.

If you're playing on Alliance, there are a couple somewhat hard-to-find quest NPCs in this zone;
Kindal Moonweaver, and his sister Jer'kai:
https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=7956
Rockbiter:
https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=7765
Kindal and Jer'kai offer a couple easy-to-do kill quests, and Rockbiter has an escort quest that is in the same area as the Stave of Equinex quest (
https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=2879
).

As you might guess from the general landscape, this is a good place for herbalists to raise their skills in. Additionally, there are a lot of grinding quests here, making it comparable to Tanaris in that respect. However, one advantage Feralas has is that there's less interfaction PVP involved, because the hubs of both factions are clear cut and the players aren't homogenized like in Tanaris.

The yetis of Feralas are great for grinding your leatherworking, as they drop silver and can also be skinned. There is a pretty wide level range on them, and there are also a few quests involving the yetis as well. What more could you want?

Helperextreme, you are wrong. Feralas IS indeed the Homeland of the Hippogryphs, but the Night Elves did NOT came to Azeroth throught the Dream Boughs. The Night Elves are an ancient Race, wich developed by the interference of magic energys in the old Land of Kalimdor, over 15000 years ago.

Druids and Shamans using Aquatic Form or Water Walking, respectively, can get from Feathermoon Stronghold to the mainland (and vice versa) faster than the boat can. Don't bother waiting for the boat, just hop in (or on). I would imagine that this would also work for Priests via their Levitate spell.

The Isle of the Dread seems to have all kinda 62 elite baddies. Is there any use for this part of the map?
For those wondering how to get at the middle section of the island:
There are at least 2 paths. One on the south east side, and on the mid-east side of the island.

I managed to lvl my lockpicking while killing from the quests up 20 points.

From what I remember and what I see here in the quest section, this seems like the perfect 42-48 zone.
I like this zone, its nice, especially the Grimtotem Taurens Quest chain and the Ogre's are really nice to level up on.
All in all I recommend this zone if you like a fair bit of grinding and easy quests.
If these aren't your thing, the more "collect this, retrieve that" quests in this level bracket are in Tanaris.
I myself like to make a mix of both zones to not get bored, they are not far away too so that's a good bonus!
Good luck!

I found this place to be an excellent alternative to Stranglethorn Vale for the Horde for quite a while. I think STV may have more quests but the rate at which you get them done here is much faster mostly due to the fact that after completing just about every quest here, I was never ganked once, speeds things up quite a bit. The only Ally I ever saw here was fishing, and didn't even take notice of my existence. Scenery is beautiful, but don't focus your eyes on the map while traveling, as the terrain can be misleading and you'll hit a lot of raised terrain you can't cross or piles of mobs. Great zone.

Feralas is an excellent zone for those leveling using the Recruit-a-Friend bonuses (triple mob xp and triple quest xp when recruit account and veteran account level together). On first glance when you arrive at Feathermoon Stronghold, there don't seem to be many quests, but the two main chains for the Night Elves, the naga and the silithids, will yield nearly a level's worth of experience on quest turn-ins alone. Combined with the quests for the goblin near the Feralas boat dock and that damnable yeti hide quest, you'll easily gain two levels.
Here's the quests to which I'm referring:
1. The Naga Chain starts here
https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=2866
, and continues here
https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=3130
.
2. The Silithid Chain starts with this quest-
https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=4124
.
3.The goblin's quests start at
Zorbin Fandazzle
.
4. The yeti quest (it's a chain, but I never even started the second part) starts here
https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=2821
.
Note this post refers only to Alliance side quests. I remember doing this area on Horde side, and it was chockful of good quests. The great thing on Alliance side is that you can concentrate on a few quests in one or two areas and get tons of XP from quest turn-ins. Might be same on Horde.

I gotta say this is one of the more aesthetic zones in the game. There's a waterfall southwest of Dire Maul that looks real nice, and if you go to the southern part of the Forgotten Shore and look north and a little west, you get a great view of the sun setting (or rising?) beside the mountains. Alt+Z and screenshot.

Here are some nice aspects of Feralas.
In the Horde town, Camp Mojache, there is a druid trainer. There is also a skinning trainer
For you higher-level alchemists, Feralas contains quite a lot of Sungrass.
Several level 275 recipes are available at the Trade vendor: Lobster Stew, Baked Salmon, and Mightfish Steak.

I enjoy Feralas. Some really nice quests up here.
1. Grind the Yetis for a while, they drop the first Distress Beacon to get a mechanical chicken.
2. Hippogriff eggs, just hop on a mount, charge through the hippogriffs till you hit a secluded hill, go up it and grab a hippogriff egg, turn it in in gadgetzan
3. The Sprite Darter Egg quest chain starts here.

If you're coming to Feralas for your first time do not go through Desolace. Instead, go through The Barrens, then Thousand Needles, into Feralas. That is the beginning of the zone. The entrance at Desolace is the highest level part of the zone, level 50, with the elite dragons, that are level 60+.

You can get zesty clam meat easily on feathermoon isle. Go the the south end of the island and kill the naga's. They are lvl41-43 and drop a clam about 70% of the time. I am a lvl 40 hunter and it was easy killing. Got 10 clams in less than an hour. Ready for upgrading my cooking skill :)

A must for grinders around 44+ to 50 i grinded the south western part for an hour or so and got 10g worth of vendor trash beaks ,bones, gorilla hairs and webbing + occational green drops 3 pieces worth from 1-2g each at ah and a blue drop 10-15g in addition i got 18 goldthorn 27 sungrass and 8 golden sansam which will net some gold, about 10-15g all in all on a good day. also got about 100K xp and some silver for quest rewards.. if youre in to cooking nice recipes at vendors(horde)and bears, wolf and apes drop nice meat for recipes. mainly grinded the hippogryphs(lots and high respawn rate) and apes. If youre a skinner aswell youll get a few golds exstra plus probably raise the skinning skill, i almost gaines 50 skill in herbalism. The other good thing is that there are hardly ever other players there, i meet only one rogue trying to gank me, but other than that nada.

I'm an alliance.
Feralas in term of difficulty is very comparable to Tanaris, both of which are lv40-50 zone. However, for whatever the reason, Feralas seems far less crowded than Tanaris. This place is great for herb gathering, so I know a lot of miners just completely skip this zone. I don't think this zone offers an easy route as Tanaris for mining, but since it's less visited so I often find myself completely OWN all the mine nodes :)
The gnolls (lv41-43) are good for grinding although you need to do something about their fleeing when health is low.
The ogres (lv45-46) are great for grinding. You can loot both money and cloth from them. And they are spaced far enough it's almost certain it's a single fight.
The zone offers some okay quests. Pretty standard slain and investigate quests. But since this zone is less visited, it's hard to get a pickup group going. So you might want to bring a friend or 2 for the more difficult quests. I encountered a total of 2 alliance yesterday and none of my "/1" messages received any responses. Last but not least, one of the quest chains started in here will reward you with a little dragon as pet. So I'm looking forward to that one.
So if you want a moment of serenity, this is the place.

Ok, since there's not much for the Alliance in the comments I'll add a bit. I've only been in here long enough to find the alliance place so can't tell much more.
I finally showed up at lvl 49 and thought i had wasted time since some of the beginning quests are low 40's but they also give you upper 40's quests and so far I have 1 quest sending me to the sunken temple.
The northern island is the alliance place and does have a flight path. In order to get there you need to go by boat.
Follow the road south from Desolace until around 46,35 (didn't get exact coords at the time) and you'll see some torches on the right side of the road. The path leads down and to the SW you'll see a dock. This brings you to Feathermoon Stronghold which is a Night Elf place. The gryphon master is around the NW part. There's a bunch of quests and there's also a goblin at the dock on the mainland that gives a couple more level 48 quests.
Hope that helps because even after reading the earlier posts I didn't know where to go. So far the place looks dead besides a couple horde running by and 2 Alliance that had no clue where they were either. :)

You could go to Feralas to grind at level 41+ I'd say, the lower leveled creatures (42-45) are in the east near Camp Mojache, so it's especially good for Horde.
Higher level creatures (45+) are in the north near The Twin Colossals.
As for fishing, you need a skill of 150 at least to fish there, but 175+ is better.
To actually get to Feralas:
You can go south from Desolace (the entrance to Feralas is near Gelkis Village) - this is better for those wanting to grind on the higher level creatures.
You can also go northwest from Thousand Needles - this route is near the Horde Camp Mojache and the lower level creatures.
This is a good area to grind in, there are very few people who go there and it has a decent range of creatures to fight.
Many of the quests also involve killing creatures.

I was a level 45 Discipline Priest when i first came to Faralas. I picked up the Flight path on The Feathermoon Stronghold, got some of the quests there and got going right away.
The first quests are easy; some, you have to kill yetis and take their fur. Others, you have to kill some ogres. The loot kinda sucked, because i only got maybe 1-2 silver per kill, and if i got lucky, some mageweave cloth.
If you are a Skinner, or a Herbalist, then this area is the perfect area for you to train. I am both of these proffessions, and I got MUCH : Goldthorn, Purple Lotus, Golden Sansam, Sungrass, Khadgar's Whisker, and in the water, Stranglekelp. For skinning, you will get much : Thick Leather, Thick Hide, and Heavy Leather.
I did like 4 quests, and now I am a level 47. Some quests you have to kill many things because the drop rate of quest items is so low, so you could finally have all the items, and 1/4 of your XP bar would be filled. What I noticed, was that most of the quest rewards are leather. If you can wear leather, then good, because some of the rewards from turning in the quests are pretty nice.
Feralas is not visited by many;
1) Either because people think theres not much there.
2) Because they just forget about it.
3) Or because they just dont even know it exists.
It is a very good place to train, and i would advise you to go there if you are between the levels 43 - 47.

This is a pretty dangerous place, and there isn't a whole lot to reward you for braving it. The island is set up like a mountainous valley with a few Elvish ruins on the northwest shore. You can find Hatecrest Nagas there, such as the
Hatecrest Serpent Guards
and
Hatecrest Sorceresses
, typically level 45; at (25, 65) is the entrance to Shalzaru's Laie. He is level 47 and dropped nothing interesting the two times I killed him, but I'm sure he'd be better as part of
Against Lord Shizaru
.
There are several Mithril deposits in the cave, but literally nothing else on the island. I saw no mining nodes and ran across no herbs. I suppose the only reason to go would be if you really wanted to fight some nasty Chimerae, or if you were skinning them for leatherworking, or if you were making
Dirge's Kickin' Chimaerok Chops
.
Enter from the east side, coordinates (33, 77). The valley goes through to (35, 88) on the southeast corner of the island. Monsters include
Arcane Chimaerok
: level 58-62 Elite
Chimaerok Devourer
: level 56-62 Elite
Chimaerok
: level 56-61 Elite
Lord Lakmaeran
: level 58-62 Elite
I understand that their main attack is Nature based, so go with good protection against that if you go at all. The island fairly screams "To be expanded in a future content patch." One that has not yet arrived, so my advice (after you get the recipe quest out of the way) is to leave the Chimerae in peace and visit easier and more rewarding areas.

In the lake atop one of the Twin Colossals is a concentric arrangement of weeds in the shape of a pentagram. Has anyone else noticed it.
I am a noob, level 37 NE priest. I decided to go wander into Feralas to see what there was to see. I took the free ride to the top. Don't let them fool you! It's a SCAM! They're just trying to sell PARACHUTES!
I, being a priest, and having my handy light feather in my inventory, merely casted levitate and jumped off.
Off course, I overshot the path and landed in the waiting arms of a big ol' gorilla. Lucky for me he just wanted to play. I made it out alive.

I've been fishing that location off and on for oveer a week and put over 6 hours total in to the effort. It all other locations, I was able to obtain the item(specified fish) with in an hour or less. Why am I having so much trouble with this one in Feralas?
